Pro or Anti vaccine

I have just seen something on BBC NEWS social media about why people should have vaccines and just what to see what people's arguments are for either way.

Why don’t you do an advanced search on ‘vaccines’ - there are many many many (too many) threads on this subject.

JustMe9 · 19/06/2019 17:52

Only very stupid people can be anti vaccines. Whats the point of this post??

smashamasha · 19/06/2019 17:53

Why is it always the second poster who has to query the OP?

This forum is for asking questions. Give her a break.

Sirzy · 19/06/2019 17:54

I like my child alive. Biggest pro for them.

LemonTreeLemon · 19/06/2019 18:00

Vaccines save lives. Fact.

That's it, really.

Kiki92 · 19/06/2019 18:52

There honestly isn't an argument. Vaccinations save lives. End of.

Emmabryant123 · 19/06/2019 19:59

Pro
Because I don't want my child to die of a preventable disease.

creamofcarnation · 19/06/2019 20:06

There is no argument, vaccines save lives. My own uncle died aged 18 months of polio back in the pre Vax days, he suffered horribly and my gran never got over it.

MaryPopppins · 19/06/2019 20:07

Pro.

Because I'm not an idiot. (Or a selfish twat)

Or one of the few people who unfortunately are unable to vaccinate themselves/their children due to medical issues.

RoomR0613 · 19/06/2019 20:09

No argument.

We are so so lucky to be born in a part of the world where not only are vaccines widely available but they are free

To have that privilege and choosing not to use it because your children are somehow more precious or special than anyone else's... spoiled, selfish people.

I really feel for people with immuno compressed children or family members who genuinely can't take up the vaccine programme watch stupid people and the internet systematically destroy herd immunity.

We should be ashamed as a society that we are allowing this to happen.

Thursday452poh · 19/06/2019 20:10

Pro all the way, they save lives, save other people’s lives. No brainer for me.

4under4our · 19/06/2019 20:14

There is an outbreak in my area at the moment and my youngest hasn't had his MMR yet (because he's too young, not because I'm a selfish, stupid person).

My neighbour and I were discussing this outside and my neighbour on the other side overheard and started going on about how it's perfectly reasonable not to vaccinate because 'god knows what's in them' and a load of other crazy shit.

I had to just go back inside and shut the door before I lost my temper. Idiot.

chilledteacher · 19/06/2019 20:14

Pro. Saves lives and prevents slow agonising deaths.

ReganSomerset · 19/06/2019 20:16

Again? Really?

TillyTots1234 · 19/06/2019 20:35

Pro. Vaccines do save lives and I’m not willing to risk my child’s life. My 10 year old cousin died of Meningitis before the Meningitis B vaccine came out, what he went through isn’t something any child or family should ever have to deal with.

IggyAce · 19/06/2019 20:40

Pro why would I risk my child dying or suffering damage from a preventable disease.
Anti vaxxers are a special kind of stupid. No point trying to reason with them.

thepartysover · 19/06/2019 20:45

@ReganSomerset Unfortunately, yes. Otherwise there wouldn't be a measles outbreak where I live. Simply cannot understand the level of self indulgence required not to vaccinate a child.

Dandelion1993 · 19/06/2019 20:45

Vaccines help reduce the spread of some awful, deadly diseases. Why would you not want to help that?

Not vaccinating your children is dumb. There is no excuse here in the UK where we get them on the NHS. I understand in other countries where you have to pay that some may be missed, but here where they're free and available, it's just selfish and stupid to not have them.

Bored15 · 19/06/2019 20:57

I just wanted to see how many anti vaxxers there actually was. Doesn't seem like there are many. I'm pro vaccine btw.

OP posts:
WiltedDaffs · 19/06/2019 21:08

Hmm... let me think... am I pro-serious illness/death or anti-serious illness/death?

It's a toughie.

MrsMaow · 20/06/2019 11:05

Pro

Except actually maybe if I’d known how the rotavirus ones would affect her I would have refused it, as it made her so poorly and I’m looking after her at home til she’s at least 1, pretty much no exposure to other babies or children until 6 months, plus it’s only 80% effective, so I’m not sure that the benefit outweighed the risk for that one.

I didn’t put two and two together to work out what made her so poorly until after she’d had both doses though and I won’t refuse any others in future, might even pay for the chicken pox one if I can.
