Strawberries

So I just blended up some fresh strawberries and fed them to my 7 month old son. Apparently they are not supposed to be given to infants until 8-12 months of age. He seems fine but I’m worried I might of made a big mistake. Anyone know if strawberries are ok? Or has anyone given their little ones strawberries?

Strawberries can sometimes give a rash around the mouth, usually it's an allergy that will be grown out of though.

Oh I haven't heard this. DS was eating strawberries at 6 months 😯 hes now nearly 2

I've never heard of that rule! Where did you see/hear that? Dd used to have them mushed up in porridge, I'm sure that was before 8 months.

They are fine from 6 months. Are you reading American weaning guidelines? Watch out for allergies

I didn't know they couldn't have them until 8 months! In know they can be an allergen, causing blisters and swelling to inside and outside of mouth.

If that doesn't happen enjoy them while the season lasts. My 2 DD will do anything for a strawberry!!

Children can have them from 6 months but they can be quite a common allergen in young ones so watch for rash/blisters etc. Like PP said, it's usually grown out of and if there's not a reaction so far then you'll probably be safe x

Strawberries are a common allergen. The general advice with all allergens is to introduce them as soon as possible unless there is a family history of allergies.

Strawberries are quite acidic. They can make the skin around a baby's face sore. This isn't an allergy. Tomatoes can do the same (you can of course have an allergy to both strawberries and tomatoes, but the reaction that many people see is not an allergic one). Both of mine have had them from 6 months.

Strawberrys were both of my DDs’ first food! Only because both just grabbed one and took a bite (before weaning had officially started)
