Advice for constipated toddler

My daughter is really struggling to go to the toilet. She keeps trying to push and gets very upset and starts crying. Does anyone have any tips on how to relieve her? This is the second time we've had issues and it seems to have started since she started nursery. She eats a healthy diet with lots of fruit and veg so I don't know why it's happening. Does anyone have any long and short term solutions?

Ella's prune fruit pouch. Short term solution, but very quick acting!

Longer term solution I'd ask your gp to prescribe Movicol for her.

Movicol worked for us. We used it for several weeks then gradually reduced the amount. I really feel for you, it’s horrible to see them struggling and in pain! Hope you get it sorted quickly.

Prunes!

I second the prune pouch, mix in yogurt if needed. Warm apple juice with some sugar in it too.

Longer term though lactulose is good. Once my child was cleared out with it, we now give it twice a week in a yogurt to help her go

Prune pouch or apricot puree
A warm bath helps and bicycling the legs or rubbing the tummy clockwise you can use a bit of baby oil etc to make it more like a massage.
Lots of drinks of water
It's horrible when they are in pain. She may be stopping herself once she starts to poo because of the pain.
See the gp for movocol or lactulose.

As above... prunes! Every time. Works better than movicol ime.

Prune pouches, tesco do their own now. Tinned peaches are also helpful.

Any fruit/veg begininnig with P

Orange juice (undiluted) always worked for my dc.

Longer term the things that are good to keep regular
Lots of fibre, preferably whole fruit and veg and whole grains
Drinking enough liquids, water especially
Exercise

Thanks for all of the replies. Going to send oh out tomorrow to get anything prune related! Just hate seeing her in tears and there's nothing I can do. Would happily push it out for her if I could. Fingers crossed it's better tomorrow for her.
