Coorie sling users - please help, what size

I have just receievd my new Coorie sling. I used a hug a bub last time but found I always had to check how to tie it so wanted one that I could just sling on. Now it has arrived I can't work out whether it is too big or not - also it is not that comfortable on my shoulder and seems to have loads of material at the shoulder. I ordered a size 3 as I think my shoulder to hip meausurement was 24-25 cm but it is a bit hard to tell due to large boobs, massive bump and no longer being able to feel where my hip bone is?

Could other people tell me what size they use or offer any tips. I'd say I am medium-boned, not slim/skinny and not overweight but I have quite broad shoulders and big boobs and am short (5ft). Just wondering whether I needed the size 2. I have tried it with a stuffed toy inside but I really can't tell if it lookls like the pictures. Also, the inner fold seems longer than the outer fabric and gathers up a bit - is this right?

Hmmmmmmm

I don't recal what size I got, but I'm quite tall and fat yet still needed a size smaller than the largest size. I foudn it stretched as I used it.

I'm not sure what you mean about the sizes of the folds, but the sling isn't made of a rectangular piece of fabric. The seam does pouch out a bit, and that's the place where the baby is supposed to go.

It's been ages since I used mine, but IIRC the fabric isn't supposed to go so much on the shoulder as over it and onto the upper arm, and to tighten it you pull the upper edge of the top layer down over itself so that it sort of folds over and cross the top of the sling going across your body. Does that make sense?

i don't know the Coorie and you're built differently from me.
Have a look at this page it has good pics of babies in pouch slings in the right and wrong way.

thanks for the advice - the pictures are really helpful - I think it is a touch too big. What I need is a realy baby to try it on - I might borrow my friends and have a go, thanks.

If the pouch has not been washed yet and it is made of cotton, try giving it a was at 60 degrees. Some of them will shrink just enough.

MrsBadger mentioned her DH trying on a sling with a bag of potatoes!

IF it is any help I am 5' 9" and a size 14-16 and mine is a medium (sz 2)

With the coorie if you are right on the cusp of sizes it is sometimes better to go for the size down as they fleece does have a bit of natural give in it.

Different pouches are bigger or smaller but this is what I found with the coorie.

The higher and tighter the better ( without it being too constricting obviously ). The fleece stretches so it can be tighter than you think it should be, if you see what I mean. Ideally, it should hang above your hips. You can also do a shoulder flip to tighten it up a bit - where you take the top layer thats lying over your shoulder and pull it back over your shoulder.

You really need a baby to see if it's comfortable or not.

It also depends on how wide/narrow your shoulders are. I was a size 16-18 and 5"4 when I was wearing the coorie and I needed the smallest size because my shoulders are very narrow.
