You'll need size one nappies in most cases, although you might still find them bulky looking to begin with-don't worry though the baby will grow into them within weeks and then they'll usually fit to between 15 and 18lbs.

use terries for the first few weeks

howdy - it depends on your intentions - shaped are lovely and easy but terrys square(now come in bamboo too) can be a cheaper alternative if your deft to folding to get you through the first few weeks when they need oodles. Youe will also need wraps for your nappies unles of course your going on with pockets from the start which dont require a wrap. Shaped or terrys seem better for newborn splatters though although i defied that rule and went with a mix of pockets and shaped bambineos (bambinex) early on. Feel free to conatcat myself or any of the other mumsnetter sellers available in the small business ads as we give good tailor made advice and special deals for mumsnetters - if your still researching the area though this is a great place to hang out and gleam all the info you need from impartial cloth users. good luck

It all depends on how much you want to spend etc - so many different options to suit your personal needs.

Like nappyzone says, it can be really helpful to get the tailormade advice, and if you have someone in your area that can show you the nappies it can be great.

maisiemog · 29/07/2007 00:25

Sorry just saw this. I second the flat nappies advice - either little terries or prefolds with nappi nippa (sounds horrible, but simple to use), plus some little nappies.
One size nappies, look big for a long time, compared to a size small - speaking from experience. You can re-sell the small nappies when you have finished with them, they hold their value well and then use the proceeds to buy size 2 or large nappies.
Diddy diapers are very reasonable and the new micro-diddy seems popular and because it's quick drying, you wouldn't need so many.
There is a piccie of my ds wearing a diddy diaper on my nappy review blog
I have heard that the bambinex size 2 can be used as a one-size nappy, there are some reviews on there about that which might help.

maisiemog · 29/07/2007 00:29

PS Would anyone care to volunteer a piccie of the new teddy for my blog???

FlameParakeet · 29/07/2007 08:58

You want it worn or not? (Worn one in my profile), will sort out non-worn when I get home from CSWS's house

maisiemog · 29/07/2007 20:00

Worn is the ideal - it's more helpful for people to see the nappy on a baby.
I have just checked your profile - the teddy photo is gorgeous, that would be great. What are all those others? That looks like a fluffle with bumfluff on the back??

FlameParakeet · 29/07/2007 20:20

That is a custom embroidered bumbeano

I'll get the pics sent to you - the one with the pirate t-shirt is a quick flip light, and I have a pic somewhere of a green tie dye disana tie on one if that is any help?

maisiemog · 30/07/2007 06:44

I thought that was a quick flip, it's the only nappy I have seen in that shade of red. I need a picture of a quick flip as well [hopeful face]. Is the quick flip light just cotton or is there some microfibre in there somewhere?
I don't have any Disana piccies at all, so that would be helpful. I'm having to trawl for piccies now, since DS potty-trained.
My email is maisiemog at gmail dot com.
Thank you.

FlameParakeet · 30/07/2007 07:33

I'll email you a whole load of different nappy shots

The quick flip light is cotton outer with a removable bamboo inner.

maisiemog · 30/07/2007 07:43

Cool!
I'll look out for them.
