Horray!!!!

She's getting so grown up

We're not actually 'training' ( horrible term)her as such just letting her do it herself. Baby led pooing I suppose !

She's not 2 till august so I wasn't bothered about nappies/potties etc but she wants to try. So we let her.
She says 'poo' a lot when we're home and wants to sit on potty. She's never actually done anything on it though
When she says 'poo' it could mean any number of things.

  1. She's done a wee or a poo in her nappy
  2. She needs a poo/wee!
  3. she just wants to say poo!

Anyway, she's done one this morning and I was so proud I took a picture of it with my phone and sent it to all my friends!!!!

How lovely to hear of a child with such a positive attitude to her potty. I'd let her sit on the pot whenever she says "poo" regardless, as she's obviously made the association. You could keep nappies on until you get something in the pot each time she sits. (Or she refuses to wear them!)

Mel, that's great but why are you not potty training her then?

You do know that this 2 year old rule is HV/pampers myth??

Sound like she's ready to go so take advantage of the summer (ha ha) for lots of nappy free time.

BTW DD1 was dry at 18 months and DD2 is already having a bash at 16 months....mind you she did poo on the floor this morning!!

Laundry lover , I meant that we weren't actively 'training' her as I just feel they do it when they're ready and she hadn't shown any interest before now.
Recently though she's (sometimes) been telling us 'poo' when she's done a wee/poo and I think thats a step in the right direction.

I'm glad that she's starting to show an interest and always let her sit on it whenever she asks.
I'm just gradually getting her used to the idea of what happens. I did the same with ds.

When she starts getting more in the potty(lots in actually!) then I'll ditch the nappies completely. When we're in the house she can be bottomless and we'll see how she gets on. She's nowhere near ready for the wees though and I don't want to pressure her to be ready.

That sounds like a good plan - I get a bit fed up with the HV line of 'wait til they are two' so sorry if i was a bit snappy.

Landfill of nappies is a bugbear of mine and encouraging people to use them for longer doesn't help the problem!

Good luck with your DD and hope the poos continue - much nicer in a potty than squashed in a nappy I always think....mind you not so nice on your bamboo floor.

Oooh...oooh...oooh

Ds did poo in toilet on sat eve. He's 25 months. I was sooooo excited, phoned lots of relatives to share the good news.

Some more enthusiastic than others. My sis sent him a 'My First Poo' badge (that she made) this morning. To be worn in the house only.

Must summon all willpower and get him trained.

princessmel · 24/07/2007 14:29

Thats so funny abouth the badge!!!

Don't 'train' him, do it the baby led pooing way!!!

My daugjhter started asking for pants at 17 months and after 3 false starts (my fault) she was dry before she was 2.

allgonebellyup · 24/07/2007 17:35

oh how your friends must have loved those photos they received

princessmel · 24/07/2007 18:08

They did actually! They appreciate potty developments.
