I dont know what's wrong with my 2 year old

Yesterday my 2 year old son has a seizure. Was one of the scariest moments of my life. He collapsed to the floor started bending backwards like something out of a horror film. Wasnt breathing turning blue. His eyes rolled into the back of his head.
The hospital didnt do any checks just sent him home and said come back if it happens again.
But a whole back he had another random episode that they dont know why happened. He randomly went cold but sweaty. Limp then lossed conssiousness. Wouldn't respond to anything couldnt wake him up. His blood sugars dropped to 2.5 and he was so cold that he was hypothermic no matter how many layers we put on him. He was in hospital for a week all tests under the sun from blood tests to lumber puncture and they found. Nothing. I'm terrified that something is really wrong with him and I dont know what to do. I'm constantly on edge. And I feel like I'm going insane

Oh you poor soul! I’m not much help but my oldest and dearest friend’s son went through something incredibly similar at that same age. He’s 9 years old now and it’s not happened since and they never got to the bottom of it.

Did they do an MRI?

Kazonia · 10/06/2019 21:49

They did when he was in the hospital for a week before. But yesterday they didnt do any tests on him after the seizure. Tomd me that it wasnt related to the thing before and come back if it happens again.

Oh god love you that sounds absolutely petrifying! What a shock that must’ve been for you. So hard when you don’t know what’s wrong. I’m not a doctor but just to give you an anecdotal case, my brother had seizures as a toddler that turned into absolutely nothing at all. I believe it’s not uncommon for young children to have seisures with no real medical cause and then grow out of it. It sounds like the first incident could’ve been a seizure as well perhaps caused by low blood sugar?

It is possible that it was also a seizure. But he had eaten such a big carb filled dinner the night before that no one could understand why his blood sugar was so low (it happened as soon as he woke up) I really hope this is all something that he just grows out of. Thankyou for the comfort that this happens x

I can't believe they're saying it's unrelated. I'm no medic, but I'd totally assume the two incidents were related. Has he had a temperature at all?

Kazonia · 10/06/2019 21:55

No temperature or anything. He was completely normal before it happened. It was like a switch one min he was playing. Then the next he wasnt.

Yes absolutely fingers crossed it’s just one of those things he’ll grow out of. I can’t imagine how scary that must’ve been I’m sure you’re still reeling. Flowers

Speak to your HV. Sometimes they can help with getting referrals.

Kazonia · 10/06/2019 22:22

Do they have 2 year checks with there health visitor. I cant remember from my older two it was years ago.

Febrile seizures are quite common I believe. Scary though.
