DS has changed since his 12-month vaccinations.

Please tell me that it's not just me.

My son (13 months) hasn't been himself since his 12-month injections almost a month ago. He's not sleeping properly. He's barely eating a thing, (in fact, meal times have become horrendous). He's grouchy a lot, (probably from lack of sleep).

Did anyone else experience this? Or is the vaccination timing merely a coincidence and this is typical 13-month-old behaviour?

I'm debating whether to take him to the GPs...

DD was ill for what felt like forever after her 1 year immunisations. She’s 3 now and is all fine. For the next child I will be asking for an alternative schedule.

Is 12 months MMR? My understanding is that this one can make children feel under the weather for a good few weeks, I think measles kicks in first then mumps or something. This is just from what I’ve read online, not personal experience or anything. If you’re concerned could you speak to your HV or GP?

It could be a coincidence. Babies change all the time and there's so much anti-vaccine propaganda out there it's easy to think that could be the cause.

Is he teething?

We were told that the effects lasted a few weeks. One kicked in after 10-14 days and another a week or so after that.

My DS had a reaction to the MMR and was covered in a rash. Was absolutely fine in the long run.

mindutopia · 09/06/2019 15:26

My 2nd one became quite unwell for about 4 days after the MMR with irritable hip syndrome. It has truly been the most unwell and distressed I’ve ever seen him. It was absolutely horrible (though not as horrible as measles obviously!). It started about 4 hours after his jab so very obvious it was related. Just one of those things unfortunately.

But it’s also very normal for the time around that age to be a tricky one, so it’s equally as likely that’s just bad timing and could have nothing to do with the jab.

@Kiki92 hello sorry I know this was a few years ago now but can you remember how long it took your baby to go back to his usual self? My son had his jabs last week and it's like he's completely changed 😩

OnceuponaRainbow18 · 01/02/2022 19:59

Jabs won’t have changed your child.

Jan is always the worst month for being run down, and kids have some many regressions
