These hints are more EC than potty training but it is a gentle way to introduce the concept of using a potty with no pressure to perform.

Buy a 'Baby Bjorn Little Potty' or a Boots/Mothercare smallish potty and or Baby Bjorn toilet seat insert, so they feel secure on the potty and toilet.

Try to place toddler on potty at 'key' points and distract him/her with toy or book for a few minutes. If s/he does something praise them.

Best 'Key' times to catch wees:-

: Straight away on waking, morning and after naps.
: Before/after bath
: Take them and sit them on a potty in the bathroom when you go, the sound of your wee will often prompt them to go if they have any need of a wee.
: 10 minutes after a big drink or nursing session
: Offer potty before you leave the house and on arrival anywhere.
: Try and pick up signs of impending poo/wee. i.e. My daughter usually farts three times before she poos and crouchs down and becomes still before a wee.

Hope that helps, good luck
