a few cloth nappy questions

i am using tots bots on my 20month old DS and if i line dry them then the rainbow bots feel abit rough. anyway i have noticed he is getting red marks around his legs and back where the elastic is and at the front where they are fastened. i use nippas. the red marks are in the pattern of the towelling so i know its not a rash. am i fasteneing them too tight or do i need to try and soften the towelling abit? also i am getting abit of wicking of wetness around the legs of my airflow wraps. i tend to fasten the wraps on the loosest popper around the legs otherwise we get red marks so am i not fastening them tight enough or is it because hes so active?

also i am expecting no2 in december and going off what my DS weighed im expecting this one to be about 9 1/2 lb. this will be my last baby so i dont really want to be buying 2 sizes of nappies as i know DC will probably grow out of size 1s before 6 months. i was thinking of getting a multi pack of bamboozles and some extra small wraps so i can use the same size nappies on both DC as DS will be 2 so prob not ready for potty training. it says on the tots website that popper bamboozles can fit from 10lb so this is why i thought of doing this. has anyone got any experience of popper bamboozles or any other suggestions i could use.

i really want to get some size 0 kissaluvs as i think they are so cute but i know they would be a waste as DC would be out of them too quick thats why im just thinking of size 2s for the cost side of things more than anything.

i hope someone can help me, sorry for the waffle

I think it is a pretty common problem with tots bots-my bamboozles leave red elastic marks too, no matter how tight/loose i do them. I find stretching the elastic out when i take them off the line helps and also i try not to put her in bamboozles all day (eg i'll put her in a bamboozle, then a different nappy, then a bamboozle)-this seems to stop any rubbing.
Havent had the problem with the motherease I'm afraid

How are you at nippas?

They give more adjustability than poppers, and if you get the bambineo/nex nippa size 2s they have a larger weight range so will last that bit longer.

The multipack type offers are often available on other nappies too, just ask the seller and they can normally come to a deal.

im ok at nippas, im using them at the moment. i had thought of the bambineo as i like the idea of the seperate booster but are they bulky if using from birth with the front folded down.

with the rd marks ds is getting at the moment i worry im putting nippas on too tight

If you are a nippa-er then I would def say to go for the Bambinex (I can sort out a pack for you like the bamboozle one if you would like, just let me know).

We can get something sorted.

vnmum · 26/07/2007 16:01

thanks flame, can you post to BFPO addresses or if not can you post to europe?

with regards to wraps, i had leakage today, DS had drunk quite alot and soaked his rainbow tot in less than 2 hours and it had leaked at the legs onto his pants. i was using an airflow wrap with the leg at the loosest fitting otherwise he gets red marks. given this would a rikki or tots wrap be better or would i get red marks with the tighter fir around his legs.

i may not need to order nappies for a few months yet as ive got things to get every month on the run up to the birth but i will let you know what i need when im ready.

Possibly yes, a rikki would be better - or even a bambinex wrap (they aren't listed, but I can get them) - very similar design to the rikki, but softer bindings on the legs.

Yup, I can post wherever you like - it calculates it all with a royal mail add on thingy. I'm not sure if it is set up for BFPO, so it might be best to put your order through with free postage and I will add up which method works out cheapest for you

Hi vnmum, my son used to get red marks when I used some shaped nappies, both from the towelling and the wrap. I find his skin is much better when I use a fleece wrap - it seems he doesn't like elastic! I have also bought some Wonderoos nappies - they are a pocket nappy and are a multi size one - dependant on where you do up your poppers they can fit from birth to potty. They are the only nappy of this sizing that I've got on with. The Wonderoos are great, really lovely fleecy layer that is in contact with the skin - so no red marks anywhere! Also this fleece is a fab stay dry layer. Hope this helps!
