Hi everyone, I’m new to this so please bare with me and I hope I’m writing this in the correct place.

I’m a first time mum and my little girl is 16weeks today an suffers with silent reflux. She is on ranitidine x3 daily. We have just switched her over to the sma anti reflux, I have been combination feeding however for reflux reasons we are now trying this formula. She seems to enjoy it an so far is staying down but my question is:

what size teats should I use?

I’m currently using MAM anti colic bottles with size 2 teats but I’m not sure if she’s getting the milk easily enough as she seems to grunt a lot whilst trying to get the milk out. She was drinking 6ozs of normal formula but only 3 1/2ozs of this one. I’m considering using fast flow but for reflux reasons I wasn’t sure whether that is a good idea or not.

The doctor advised I should consider weaning her early in a few weeks to help with reflux?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated! And any tips on reflux anyway would be great!

My DS suffered with reflux too, and also had ranitidine. We found AMA lactose free formula and MAM free flow (X teat) teats worked a treat. We didn't wean early, waited till 6 months and BLW. It's not really advised now to wean early for reflux. Try feeding baby sat upright, we found that helped. We also slightly propped the head end of his crib up too.

SMA, not AMA. Bloody predictive text!

We was using lactose free by SMA but was told as she’s not lactose intolerant to not be using it as it will make her worse when she gets older? They’ve recently changed their formulation on the lactose free one & she’s not taken to it very well so that’s why we changed also.

I will definitely be ordering the teats today ! So hopefully they help. I’ll also feed her more upright, thanks for the tip!

I hope by changing her formula we don’t cause her any tummy upset Sad she does seem a lot more windy today.

The lactose free formula didn't do any harm to my DS, weaned him onto cows milk at 11 months by mixing up an Oz at a time. He's been fine since weaning, and was having cows milk until he was two.
Fingers crossed it all helps for your DC OP, it will pass x

General rule of thumb is how long it takes to drink a bottle, if it’s more than around 20-30 minutes then go up to the next flow teat.

If your LO is still quite windy, I found dentinox mixed into the bottle really helped, and of course ‘cycling’ the legs and tummy time are good for getting wind out.
