Dd is at pre school 2 mornings a week. Today she came out with 6 Pictures she'd painted! I came home put them on the dinning table and then after 4 hours of them being sat there I threw them in the bin 🙈 dh reckons I'm out of order lol and how could I throw her cute little pictures away 🙈 it was a blob and a few scribbles fgs and there was 6 of them!!

Am I mean? What do you do with the cute pictures crap? I'm not sentimental at all 🙄

I do think it's a bit harsh to chuck them away immediately. I'd probably allocate a space in my kitchen as a "gallery" where you can have a certain number of pictures up at a time and choose together which ones get replaced. I'd probably also make a big deal about recycling the old ones to help the planet etc rather than just throwing them in the bin.

I am sentimental though!! Grin

We take pictures and we'll make a photobook from photobox at the end of the year.

I think you are harsh to have thrown then away so quickly, i hope your dd didn't see

Wrap birthday presents in them.

Throw them away. They lose interest after an hour. Just don’t let them see you doing it.

My mum kept a selection of my artwork and gave it back to me in a scrapbook with photos/verses/quotes in for my 21st. Its one of my most treasured possessions. Made me laugh/cry/smile it was such a thoughtful present

Mine know that if a picture is really good I take a photo of it. And if it's really really good it goes in a frame. But they know I love all their work, there just isn't enough room in the world to store it!

Whisky2014 · 03/06/2019 19:10

Jeez i don't think I'd have thrown them out the same day! My mum kept some of mine and gave them to me recently, was lovely to see. (Not loads just a few of the better ones :D)

CottonSock · 03/06/2019 19:12

Yep I chuck away all but the best ones. Those might go on fridge. Some then kept in a large box file per child. Sometimes they get spotted in recycling bin. Need to remember to fold them!

AppropriateAdult · 03/06/2019 19:17

'Special' ones go on the fridge for a few days, everything else into the recycling bin as soon as DD has forgotten about it. She's 5, she draws/paints for enjoyment, not in order to amass a collection of art for posterity.

lucymegan · 03/06/2019 19:17

I tend to keep one on the second day and put it on the fridge until the following Tuesday. I couldn't keep every single one 🙈 she's the youngest of 5 so can you imagine if I'd of kept all their pictures 😂 I'd need a house in the garden to store them in 😳 I'm like it with birthday cards too. By the third day there in the bin.

My grandmother kept all my pictures, and showed them to me in a big box when I was a teenager. It was lovely. In this day and age digital photos are so easy, so you can at least "keep" the pictures by taking photos of them before chucking them.

I’m very sentimental after a tough childhood so I keep all my children’s drawings and crafts. I allocated a folder for each school year from nursery onwards with their master pieces to look back on. There’s a lot less now they’re year 7 and year 5 and it doesn’t take up much space. If you’re tight on space then take photos of everything and save them to a usb/disc
