Hi all!

My daughter is three weeks old (was four weeks early) and she's had a stuffy nose for about two weeks.

I'm using saline drops and an aspirator which helps. We also have a humidifier but there's something a bit odd about it all and I would love to hear what you think....

She's only stuffy on a night! During the day she's pretty much constantly fine even when she's laid flat in her pram or Moses. Is there something about our bedroom I could investigate?! We have a Snuzpod for the bedroom if that makes any difference!

Thank you!

Hi OP. I wouldn't find that too unusual. If you think about when we have colds, they always seem so much worse at night for some reason. I guess during the day there is more to distract them perhaps?! Not sure of the reason.

Have you tried the calpol plug ins? They are really nice. I also put some snuffle babe in a bowl of water (I hear putting some on the soles of baby's feet works well).

Oh and congratulations on your baby :D

Thank you! I guess that does make sense yes.

Not used the plug in no - I will look into those! Thank you!

It's very normal in the first couple months for them to be sniffley. As long as it's just her nose and not her lungs, then I would just leave it be. I wouldn't use the plug ins or any of the baby rubs though. They can cause irritation in lungs of children that are predisposed to asthma and I wouldn't risk it with such a young baby (they may even say that in a warning on the packet).

DS2 was exactly like this at a couple of weeks old, we couldn't sleep through the snuffling! It cleared up quickly after and he's nearly 8 weeks now and it hasn't returned. Don't forget they can't blow their nose, that's why the sneeze quite often, because it's the only way to clear their nose. You'd be quite snuffly too if you couldn't blow your nose.

Obviously if you think it's something more see a GP, but I'd bet this will clear up on its own
