I'm going to arrange some parenting seminars for our toddler group and can't decide what subjects to cover and was hoping to pick the brains of some mumsnetters. Was thinking of Sleep, Behaviour or Eating, the cost would be £3 (to cover hall/refreshments)and there will be an expert speaker talking for about 90 minutes including a break and questions. it will be aimed at parents of under 7's. What kind of subjects interest you?

At that age, probably Tantrums, Sibling rivalry, Clinginess, Going on to Nursery, that kind of thing.

oooh what a good idea... nothing to add subject wise, but wish there was more of that around!

What to expect from Pre-School - could get local pre-school teacher in? All the others are good ideas too.

What about a seminar on First Aid for the more common childhood accidents? Things like choking, head injuries, burns etc. Our pre-school arranged one of these and nearly every parent attended.

How about someone to come and talk about car seat safety?
We are thinking of doing this at our toddler group so if anyone knows who to get in touch with to orgnise this let me know (which organisation etc?)
Also might nick some of those other ideas ;)

Sounds a great idea. I would want to focus more on learning from each other, rather than focusing on the expert giving all the answers. This is more empowering for parents, and raises self-esteem, and anyway for many, many issues there is no "right answer". So I would be briefing the 'speaker' to keep it short, and do lots of interactive things, splitting into small groups to discuss and problem solve, that sort of thing, rather than a lecture with questions.
