I'm sorry for sounding so irrational. Quite frankly it's embarrassing.

I have a 3 week old baby and she projectile vomited on me earlier about 10 minutes after her feed. It went everywhere, evening coming out her nose.

Do you think this is a stomach bug? Or the fact she gulped down her milk? She did have more than usual (normally 1 to 3 ounces and that feed was 4 ounces). Do babies that young get stomach bugs?

I have some anxiety issues and emetaphobia. I also have inflammatory bowel disease and last time I had a stomach bug (the only one as an adult) it caused me a flare in my IBD and I ended up in hospital, this was whilst pregnant.

My 3 year old DD has looked pale today, but she has a snotty nose (baby also has this) and she has been a bit naughty today, which has set off my anxiety even more (obviously I don't show this to her).

I have an appointment booked with GP to discuss my anxiety already.

My baby did this quite often, usually due to eating too fast and trapped wind which causes it all to come out at once. She never seemed too bothered by it! Stopping to wind her frequently helped. We also tried infacol, but didn't find that it helped at all.

It's more likely to be trapped wind due to gulping too fast

If there are no other symptoms it's most likely to be that's they've brought up milk when they burped. Coming out of the boat isn't unusual, it's just a bit scary for a moment of they're spluttering and trying to catch their breath.
If it was a stomach bug, your baby would vomit repeatedly and be very unsettled. If they seem fine in themselves then don't worry!

That's supposed to be nose! Not boat.

Thank you everyone. I bit of sensible input is sometimes what I need to think with a normal non anxiety frame of mind..

She doesn't seem ill. Poos are typical of a 3 week old (yellow)

She has had another feed, is asleep and so far no vomiting.

Fingers crossed. When I get anxious I can't sleep, so tonight might be a long night anyway.

She just had another feed and was sick when she had been put back in the Moses basket. I didn't see her be sick. But there was a fair amount. Not on her nose.

Hope she's ok this morning.

Mine projectile vommed across the dining room once at about 4 weeks, he'd just had a bit too much and swallowed too much air.

What formula is she on if formula fed? I find my DD brings up the aptamil powder one more than she does the pre made bottles yet my DS never had that issue when he was on it could be that or could be silent reflux if she's bringing up her feeds regular try keeping her upright after each feed for a bit if you can but perhaps give the Health visitor a call to ask them for advice hope it soon settles for you and your DD

dreamingfairy · 30/05/2019 13:54

She was sick again quite a few times this morning. Quite a lot too. I spoke to Health Visitor who talked about reflux. She said to try and keep her up right for 20 minutes after feeds. But if no improvement by tomorrow to take her to GP. She's only little (5 pounds now) so it's important she doesn't lose weight.
