Question for all you nappy buffs

I'm trying to cut down on tumble dryer use (still reeling from the last electricity bill ), but in this godawful monsoon of a 'summer' we're having, my bamboo nappies are taking a lifetime to dry on the airer indoors, ie they're not dry by the time I need them back in rotation. So, is it going to be cheaper to buy some cheapo cotton nappies, or give in and use the dryer more?

I have loads of prefolds, but unless dd is wearing a vest, I can't get the wrap+prefold to stay up on my tall, slim, very wriggly 11 month old, so she ends up with the whole lot around her knees .

Anyone got any used rainbow bots or the like, or fuzzis/nature babies stuffies (poppers, not applix) for sale? Or any of you nappy sellers doing any deals?

Not exactly what you are asking but you can help speed up drying of your nappies by putting a large dry towel in the tumble drier with them. It needs to be something that doesn't matter if it is wet afterwards. The towel will absorb a lot of the wetness from the nappies. The leave it to dry naturally afterwards or put it in with the next load you dry.

how about tryign nice traditional terry squares but bamboo squares - i trialed this system yesterday and was pleasantly suprised - not something id do full time but ok for emergencies until the monsoon passes! and a cheaper alternative....

I'm nervous with terry squares, ever since I accidentally caught dd's tummy with a nippa - it's not easy to get them on a squirmy baby on all fours trying to crawl off the changing mat. I've just dug one out to try again - what fold works best so I don't have loads of nappy sticking out through the leg holes in the wraps?

My 2 bambineos are staring at me damply from the airer, where they have been keeping the clwt twts company for the past 36 hours, although they are marginally dryer than the latter, thanks to the separate boosters.

Nappyzone, I'm emailing you through your website about some stuffies

that worries me to but so far his bellys in tact! its not easy is it... pockets are so much easier...

I'm not deft enough with a nippa to slap a terry square on a small wriggly creature hell-bent on crawling off the end of the changing mat - I caught her tummy with the nippa the last time I tried .

I have a couple of bambineos, which are staring at me damply from the airer, where they have been keeping the clwt twts company for the last 24 hours... The whole lot are about to go in the dryer with a towel.

Nappyzone, I'm emailing you through your website about some fuzzis.

What about a compromise? I only put my nappies in for 15-30 mins (with a towel as lailasmum suggested) on low temp and that seems to take the edge off them and then they dry reasonably quickly (compared to before) on the line. Don't feel so guilty, bills aren't so high. My wbb's/bambineos are nice and soft too.
But I did buy some pockets to offset (and also for ease of putting on when we're out and about/nursery etc). Aren't tots going to be equally hard to line dry though? I've found my pockets dry instantly but needed a few extra inserts as they take longer e.g. wonderfulls.
Lady selling fuzzis in mnet classifieds right now, I just bought two , I haven't had one before, very excited!

My April/May/June bill was significantly higher than the previous quarter - I think I'm using the dryer more because the heating is off, but summer just hasn't happened. Ironically over the winter, the bamboos dry fine on the radiators. Dh's task for the week - find a cheaper electricty supplier...

I have a couple of rather elderly and fairly threadbare cotton tots bots, and those dry really well inside on the airer - I suspect new fluffy ones might take longer.
