“Changing bag” with easy jet

Hiya. I hope someone could clarify this for me. We’re travelling to Turkey next month with our 22 month old. He’ll be sitting on my lap. This is what the easy jet website says about luggage:

“If you’re travelling with an infant who will be seated on your lap, only an additional baby changing bag is allowed for the infant (45x36x20cm) this must be placed under the seat in front of you. If the infant is occupying their own seat they are allowed a cabin bag plus a changing bag (45x36x20 cm).”

“Standard size Trunki’s (46 x 20.5 x 31 cm) can be taken on board and will need to be placed under the seat in front of you. Larger size Trunki’s will have to go in the hold.”

So what I’m trying to find out is if a standard size trunki would be accepted as his changing bag?

Many thanks in advance.

No. It would need to be a squishy bag that can fit under the seat in front. A trunki wouldn't go. You can take as hand baggage but not as the changing bag as it won't fit under the seat in front.

And as he's on your lap he only has a changing bag if that makes sense.

Ok cool. I understand he doesn’t get his own luggage allowance but a friend offered to lend us a trunki but I have no concept of size. He has a bumblebee bag that he takes for nursery that I think is probably the right size.

Yes it says a standard size Trunki is fine to be taken into the cabin, as it can be placed under seat in front of you. We’ve taken a Trunki for DCs travelling as infants before and never had a problem.

GeorgieTheGorgeousGoat · 28/05/2019 20:16

The trunki is bigger than the changing bag size allowance so that confirms it’s a no.

I flew with EasyJet on Monday, my 20MO was on my knee. We took his trunki and his yo-yo fold up pram as hand luggage and nobody questioned it?

SospanFrangipan · 28/05/2019 20:26

Trunkis do fit under the seat 👍

BurpingFrog · 28/05/2019 20:29

@newnewname19 did you take the yo-yo as your own hand luggage or was it as well as your hand luggage?

I’ve previously taken it instead of my hand luggage, then also the changing bag; but wondering if in practice I could take a hand luggage bag too...

BurpingFrog · 28/05/2019 20:29

Sorry to hijack thread op!

MsJaneAusten · 28/05/2019 20:30

You could take the trunki as your cabin bag though?

Chefwifelife · 28/05/2019 20:54

No worries. All welcome aboard.

And Wow. I’m glad that’s cleared up 😂

Maybe I should call easy jet and see what they say?!

They're quite chunky and I wouldn't risk it as even if the phone people say ok, and you're ok at a U.K. airport - the one home can be stricter etc... take the bumble bee changer and just your hand luggage as you have more room than him, or just check a huge one, and take a small changing bag for him /handbag for you and be hands free and liberated round the airport!

@BurpingFrog

It was me, DH and DS. We had one backpack, one large handbag, one trunki, one yo-yo

Thank you, @newnewname19. That sounds promising :-)
