18m Old Tantrems

The terrible twos seem to have kicked in a little early with our 18m old. She's only this week taken a few tentative steps and I think not being able to walk is frustrating for her.

She listens well and will not continue with something if told no, but for a couple of months if she hears 'No' in a really firm tone she would get upset and cry her eyes out. We didn't stop saying no obviously, but would comfort her and distract her.

Fast forward to now and she's pushing boundaries all the time so naturally we're having to tell her to stop things. This could be in the form of no, a noise, 'stop it' 'don't do that' etc etc. I could say in the nicest voice possible 'darling please desist' and she would know it was essentially a 'no'.

When that happens she has a full scale tantrum. Crying hysterically, red face, sometimes dramatically on the floor.

This is happening continuously. I've got a headache from it. She's happy inbetween and is really good about not continuing with whatever I've said to stop, but it's still slowly driving me insane.

Is this normal? Has anyone else had this? I'm hoping it's a phase and the hysterical tears will stop soon, but she's currently being pretty consistent with it

Hi OP, I could have written this post, I'm going through the same thing with my 18 month old DS. So no advice to give, I'm watching with interest!

@ViserionTheDragon that's comforting to know, although I sympathise with how frustrating it is!
