Avoiding plastic toys

Does anyone have any good experiences of this? I'd like to eliminate my plastic waste as much as possible but one thing I'm struggling with is outdoor stuff. Any particular sites you get things from or do you always need to sacrifice something?

www.themodernnursery.com

I haven't bought anything from them yet, but plan to once my LO is older, they have a nice range of wooden toys and outdoor stuff

Buy used, ask around for free stuff that other local kids have grown out of? Tbh you can make do without specific “toys” for a lot of outdoor play.

Babipur is a lovely ethical Childrens company. They have a lovely Facebook community too. They sell loads of stuff. Though it would be more environmental probably to buy second hand.

Babipur is great, Ikea also have some nice wooden toys and I recommend checking FB selling pages or eBay out for second hand ones.

I’ve only ever use wooden toys with babies and toddlers. Plastic can’t be avoided when they get older and discover Lego and LOL dolls though Hmm.

We got ours second hand and will donate to charity or friends when DS grows out of them. Depends on age but you could use any plastic bottles or tubs you've had to use in the house and find fun ways to recycle them by playing with them in water or sand or soil xx

We have quite a lot of plastic toys generally and almost exclusively for outside. I think it's a good material for outside stuff, it's easy to keep clean and isn't easily damaged by rain. We bought a plastic paddling pool/sand pit 3 years ago and it's still going strong. I got some stacking cups from Ikea when ds was tiny, he initially knocked down towers, then built them and they're now in the sand pit 5 years later. I don't immediately associate plastic with waste or tat, more ,is this the best material for the job? Will this last?
