I have been pumping 3-6 times a day & bottle feeding I got my baby to latch tonight but I’m worried I won’t have produced enough milk as I have been pumping milk only 3-6 times a day, any tips? Smile

I did it!! Loads of skin to skin and feed your baby constantly, it will take a while for your milk to catch up but you'll get there. Drink loads of water and make sure you're eating a good amount of protein. You're off to a good start with the latch. Wink

Thank you for your response. Silly question how do I know he is actually feeding properly?

Yes, go for it! The most straightforward measure of getting enough milk is that they'll appear satisfied by the breast and have active / alert / happy behaviour after a feed (obvs not every feed; they might sometimes fancy a nap). Also, plenty of wet nappies.

I know someone who started to breastfeed 'late' successfully. I had supply issues when my baby was about 5 weeks old and so it was not unlike starting again in some ways.

KellyMom is a fabulous resource recommended to me by a midwife:

To echo what PP said, you're looking for plenty of wet and dirty nappies. I found the Kelly Mom website really helpful too. You're going to get loads of advice online and I've read it all while stressing in a difficult situation. The key things for me would be a) feed as much as possible until your supply catches up b) drink lots of water. Good luck and let us know if you have any questions as you get going!
