Struggling to keep baby's room cool...

Hiya,

I'm at the end of my tether, I can't seem to get my little ones room cool. It stays in and around the 25degree mark and doesn't go any lower than 21.
I have the window open, the curtain is always shut (throughout the day too), I also have a blackout blind too, I have a fan in there but that never helps. I've got other windows open upstairs to get a through breeze, I've even opened her door a nudge and had the front door open to get a good gust of air. It just doesn't help Sad
It really worries me that it's so warm in there, has anyone got any advice or tips?!

Thank you so much, in advance!

K xx

Is the baby upset because of it? Keep them very lightly dressed and they should be fine. Little ones are much more tolerant than we are about the heat.

Dress them lightly for bed. Open the curtains during the day and close them an hour or two before bedtime.

I'd throw whatever you are using to measure the temperature away as there's nothing you can do bar what you're doing and it's clearing stressing you out.

Dress the baby lightly for bed. Is the baby disturbed by the heat?

One thing I’d say isa fan doesn’t actually lower the temperature, but makes it feel cooler (which must be what counts?) I ran mine the other week and the thermometer still showed 25 degrees, but it was cool enough for me to need a light duvet (when it’s actually 25 degrees I sleep naked with an ice pack on my neck!!)

I sympathise as my house gets unbearably hot in summer.

Same problem here; massively well insulated house, South facing and masses of windows. Bloody boiling all summer (great fun last year when I was pregnant).

DD (6 months) sleeps in a nappy and sheet sleeping bag from JoJo. Touch wood seems to be ok atm but obviously we haven’t had massive heat just yet....

Could you leave all windows and internal doors open all day? (I get it might not be safe; we are on the outskirts of a village, very set back from a quiet road so worth the risk). Obviously we’ll be stuffed come July, as we live next to some woods that seem to be where the wasps gather to discuss their plans for invasion....

Can babies have a small AC unit in their room? Is it safe?

I agree with pp - get rid of the thermometer as there is nothing you can do anyway. Babies grow up in different climates all over the world. If you don't know exactly what the temp is, you may be calmer.
