Can’t fully remove dd agonising varuka

Really not sure what to do about my dd Varuka
Been using bazuka for almost 3 weeks and it was working. Although every evening was hell and agonising crying and shouting.

I was finally able to pull the core out......blood everywhere, she screamed the place down. Is like a massive hole in her foot. But there are still a few little black dots at the side.

Should I start treatment again, or will it go as the core is now gone?

Who told you to pull it out? Iv never heard that and it sounds painful.
Your not supposed to. It can take a long time unfortunatly. If its particularly stubborn go to a podiatrist

DragonMamma · 24/05/2019 07:19

Verruca’s are a complete pain in the arse but generally once the core has gone it should sort it. Wait until the foot heals until you see whether you need a to treat it further!

madcatladyforever · 24/05/2019 07:20

It doesn't have a "core" that you can pull out, you are pulling off flesh. It needs to be properly and painlessly removed by a podiatrist with a scalpel. Please don't do that.

Blimey, your poor daughter.

Verucca treatment should not be painful. Go and see your gp.

Stormwhale · 24/05/2019 07:21

Hopefully her immune system will attack anything that's left now, but if you cant get it to shift go to a chiropodist as they have very strong acid cream they use. Dd is currently being treated for some and she just has to keep the bandages on for 5 days then when they come off the skin comes away in lumps from the verucca. It's absolutely gross but seems to be working!

FamilyOfAliens · 24/05/2019 07:21

That is such a dangerous thing to do. Did you not read the instructions? The wound you’ve created can easily become infected. Please take her to the GP to see if they can rectify what you’ve done.

LoafofSellotape · 24/05/2019 07:22

Pulling out the core is good! The black dots are just the bits that are dead now I think. See what happens over the next week? Dh had one and the new super strength Bazooka got rid of it in a week!

ObtuseTriangle · 24/05/2019 07:24

I've read a few threads on MN about verukas have a search, one of them I remember recommended putting Vicks vapour rub on it.

IHeartKingThistle · 24/05/2019 07:25

I did this to DD accidentally but it did work.

Cornishmum00 · 24/05/2019 07:27

My ds had a big one and core fell out when using emery board and bazuka, the hole it left was gone in a couple days

BlueCornishPixie · 24/05/2019 07:33

Why did you pull it out? That's so painful!

I had a really stubborn one for years, I went to the gp and they gave me higher strength salicylic acid I think and that got rid of it. But I tried cutting out the 'core' many times and it was just painful and here back.

Make sure you keep the wound clean, keep an eye for infection, and is get DD to the gp if it doesn't heal

Been using bazuka for almost 3 weeks and it was working.

Although every evening was hell and agonising crying and shouting.

Why? What were you doing to her? Have you been trying to pull a verrucca out for 3 weeks?

I was finally able to pull the core out......blood everywhere, she screamed the place down.

No wonder. WTF were you thinking?

Should I start treatment again,

Leave your poor child alone.

Marieakamog · 24/05/2019 14:39

nwybhs,
she has a tendency to flinch automatically, always has unfortunately.
I never tried to pull the veruka out.
I read the instructions and only picked off the white bit as instructed. On this occasion however the whole thing came out.

I spoke to the pharmacist...he said that I’d done what I was supposed to. once scabbed, start process again (for few black bits remaining).

I just wondered from advice if it was necessary to start again or if I should just leave it.

I meant to put “pick” not “pull”

nwybhs · 24/05/2019 14:43

Your child flinched, ok so where did the 3 weeks of agonising crying and sh thing come from?

Buddyelf · 24/05/2019 14:45

OP this happened to me when I was younger. My mum used the bazuka and one day when she picked the white off the whole core came with it. I thought that was the point? Removing the core? Otherwise what else is the treatment doing?
Anyway I was left with a ‘hole’ and it healed well and quickly. Just make sure you keep it clean and dry and keep an eye on it and pop the pharmacist if needed for advice. Nasty things.

RabbitseatDogs · 24/05/2019 14:56

Gaffa tape.

My DS has a group of veruccas on his foot that Seemed resistant to any treatment.

I covered them in gaffa tape for a few days and they completely disappeared. It was like magic.

Disclaimer: don't use this treatment without Googling for more specific timings/instructions.

Marieakamog · 24/05/2019 16:03

Thanks all so much, I will keep a close watch. fingers crossed no more will be needed. M x

Leave your poor child alone

This.

Current advice is to leave them alone. The immune system will deal with it eventually. They’re generally harmless, and trying to remove them does more harm.

Only situation you would try and do something is if they are big enough to cause discomfort while walking. And then its best to just put the bazuka on the surface and file down the top dead skin so it’s not so painful.
