What is the age you reminisce about

As a new mum (DS four months, DSS is 7) i was just wondering, what is the age you look back at wishing you could have again? DH always says 4/5 was his favourite age for DSS but i'm wondering for everyone else if theirs is the same? What age do you wish your children could be again?

I loved it when dd was 3.
She'd just started pre school, everything was new, exciting and full of wonder.

All ages have been lovely so far, but Pre school age was just delightful.

Baby. Pre-school.

With DC1 (now 7), it was just-4. We both really hit our stride, found loads more things we enjoyed doing together, he was confident and comfortable at nursery, no naps to need to fit in to the day, it was lovely. That summer before he started school was my favourite.
I should probably also acknowledge though that this was also a time when I was happy at work and earning a good salary - I’m sure that enabled things to be better than they might have been.

DC2 is only one now. I loved being on maternity leave with her, and having her with me always, my little sidekick. She’s a remarkably joyful little thing, and maybe this age will be a nostalgic one with her. It’s hard to predict.

I loved having babies (under 1 or so).

Have enjoyed 5+ A lot too, though yet to reach the teen years.

Unlike a lot of others, I didn't enjoy toddler/preschool years. Too much chasing about and tantrums and it being really difficult to go anywhere.

When I first read your title I thought you meant what age I reminisced about and I was going to say late 30s when I met my husband and was child free...
My kids are teens I suppose I think back to when they were toddlers but not in anyway wishing I was back there! I’m happy they are independent young almost adults just itching to make their mark in the world.

From about 15m to 2.5yrs she got more and more fun as her personality and talking developed.

From 2.5 until now (3yrs 2m) have been a challenge! The tantrums etc are ramping up! It varies a lot from child to child and on what you enjoy as a parent.

Probably 3yo for dd2. She was just adorable, happy doing anything, napped anywhere and expressed herself so cutely. She loved drawing and would happily entertain herself in a cafe if I wanted some peace and quiet or a catch up with a friend.

Conversely, dd1, who has ASD, was a bit of a nightmare at 3 as she was a liability, very restless and wouldn't sit still. I'd say her best age is now (7) as she can regulate hrr emotions better and we can have more fun without worrying about meltdowns.

My two DC are 8&9. I prefer this age I think.

Qweenbee · 24/05/2019 17:28

They improved all the time till about three then it plateaued. It was nice as they got more independent though.
