Best covers for towelling square type nappies, and how to fold!!!

I have lots of lovely fluffy simple square towelling nappies, which I don't use because I can't remember how best to fold them so they don't come half way down baby's leg, and also none of my covers really cover them because of this!

Son is 5 weeks old, we have motherease, cotton bottom, bambino and various other styles of wrap.

Any tips?

Great minds, Miaou!

Spying on your ante natal thread btw. Hope things get moving properly soon!

There are loads of folds for terry nappies on the web, but I think the kite fold is the best, but it needs to be fastened each side with a nappy pin rather than a nappy nipper, which I find is difficult to use in such circumstances. I use cheapy pull on plastic pants over the nappy, which you can get from Boots, but make sure all the nappy is inside to avoid leaks.

ooo what did you decide on ? im having an experiment with terry squares at moment - bamboo ones in fact - very nice - i am using that jo fold but mine looks knowhere near as neat as theres in the picture!! Used my airflow and a tots wrap and both ok - actually being a closer fit the tots was slightly favoured. Im sure it must become second nature but on my 2 nd nappy of the day i was tempted to throw the towel in and drag the pockets out but then had to remind myself its market research! loL!

the best fold I found was - fold into a triangle, long edge across back, fold other point up, then roll the bit by the leg until you get a snug fit, do same with other side, then bring reaming in points across to meet in the middle.

Very good at retaining poo, and gives good absorbancy in the right area.

nappyzone · 20/07/2007 15:45

do you terry squarers put a liner in as i havent been? no poo yet though on my little experiment - i dont usually use liner in shaped and pockets. Ds asleep at mom so just experimenting with some alternatives for a little boy on a cabbage patch kid lol!!

throckenholt · 20/07/2007 15:54

use a fleece liner once you start solids - not much point before that.

nappyzone · 20/07/2007 16:13

oh yeah sorry im there on that ..... all good fun and so much neater on a doll than a real baby i am finding!!

Dodaday · 21/07/2007 07:35

I forgot to mention that I always use a nappy liner. Not only does it allow wee to pass through and be soaked up by the nappy, but more importantly it's easier to deal with poo at change time by simply picking up the liner by each corner and putting it down the loo!

oh im a hardcore poo flicker!
