Travelling long haul with 4mo - advice

Hi all

Just looking for some advice/tips when travelling long haul with a small baby.

I will shortly be travelling to Florida which is a 9 hr flight with my 20 week old son. I will be travelling with my partners full family which includes 8 adults and 9 children (including my son who is the youngest).

My son is bottle fed and just wondering how is best to travel with formula and what you packed in your hand luggage for baby?

Thanks in advance!

We packed formula powder in the bottles ready to be made up. Two bottles. Plus an extra portion of formula. Then when through security add boiling water to one and wait for it to cool down. Take a sealed container or ready made formula as well in case baby is hungry before bottle cooled down.

You can order bottles of ready made milk to Boots after security so you don't have to carry it too far. We used microwave steriliser bags when we went away before our LO was 1. Make sure you've got changes of clothes for all of you in your hand luggage.

At 4 months, it will be a breeze. Bring a sling for the plane (comfortable one you can sit down in, if necessary). You can pre/order or just buy pre made formula in the airport (Boots, etc) and bring pre-sterilised bottles that are sealed for the plane. Flight attendants can give you a bowl of hot water to warm it in if needed but it’s better of your baby will drink it room temp. Then just be mindful of giving each other time to eat and sleep on the plane. You’ll need to trade off if baby doesn’t sleep so you each get a bit of a break. A 4 months though it’s more likely they’ll just sleep through much of it, which would be ideal.
