Cloth Nappies Liners

Hello all, I've just ordered some cloth nappies to try with my four month old son. A couple are 'all in ones' but they seem to take forever to dry (like TotsBots Easyfit). I really like the Close Parent Pop-Ins as you can remove the soaker and booster to dry seperately.

Do I need to buy extra fleece liners or extra soakers/boosters? Is this so that if they just do a small wee you replace the liner rather than the whole nappy shell? Or do you have to wash the entire thing after every wee?

Very new to this so lots to learn. Thanks. Smile

Cloth nappies are a whole new world of terminology aren't they! There's so many options, it's easy to get confused. A lot of it is trial and error, and just working out what works for you.

With a Pop-In, I'd use it like a 2-part nappy. Change the soaker/booster at each nappy change but keep reusing the outer shell unless it's soiled. You don't want to be washing the outer more than necessary as it'll damage the waterproofing over time. We use two-part nappies and I put on a clean wrap (outer shell) each morning, so they're changed daily.

If you work on that basis, you'll need more inner, absorbent parts than you do the outer, waterproof parts. You may also need extra boosters or an entirely different nappy for overnight, as you're not changing as often.

Liners don't provide any absorbency. They let the liquid soak through to the nappy itself, whilst catching any solid bits so that you can bin or flush them. You'll want a fresh liner at every change generally, although I've been known to just change the liner if DS poos in a nappy he's only been in for 5 minutes!

Ok thank you. That clears that up! I'd prefer to mainly be washing the liners/soakers more often and not whole nappy shells. I bought some 'all in ones' thinking that would be easier but I think I prefer to idea of the 2 parters.

Any tips on cleaning running poo off? The first one has come out of the wash stained Confused

The 2 parters work really well for us, we have limited drying space and I think the all in ones would take to long to dry.

As for the runny poo - get as much off as you can before they go in the wash. Cold rinse before the hot wash. Sunshine acts as a natural bleach so dry them in the sun whenever possible.

Ok thanks. So I have a few Close Parent Pop-ins. They come with a soaker and a booster. Do I also need to buy fleece liners?

With the pop ins, they are lined in fabric so you may not get to reuse the outer as they may feel too wet.
If you need more fleece liners, I just cut up a 2nd hand blanket from the charity shop
