Now I kinda know what wipes I’m going to stock up on for my baby, I’m wondering how long a pack of wipes will last? From experience. Want to stock up for a couple months, and don’t want to under prepare

I think that’s a case of “how long is a piece of string” type question!

Stylemebabyonemoretime · 16/05/2019 10:16

If your baby is not here I won’t stock up because they not react well to them. What are the wipes?

MummyBear2352 · 16/05/2019 10:19

12 months after opening...indefinitely if not.

Just don’t do what I did and store a whole box in the conservatory....they dried out 😂

The problem OP is it depends what you're using them for.
They advise water and cotton wool for new born baby bums anyway.
They'll last longer is you use them just for bums and shorter if it's bums, face, hands, and anything they touch with sticky hands...

I wouldn't stock up yet. My DS came out in a rash when we used a particular brand.

Chrle98 · 16/05/2019 11:28

The wipes are aveeno and water wipes

Get yourself an Amazon prime
Subscription and order them as you need them.

Chippychipsforme · 16/05/2019 13:07

You should probably wait till the baby arrives and you can check they are ok with them. Better to wait than left with 11 packs of wipes you can't return and cost you a fortune! You can get them in supermarkets easily enough.

Lazypuppy · 16/05/2019 13:20

Water wipes are expensive! Why not try lots of brands and see if your baby gets on with any if the supermarket own brands?

INeedNewShoes · 16/05/2019 13:25

I wouldn't stock up on something you haven't tried yet.

Your baby's bottom might react badly to certain wipes. For example both DD's and my skin erupt with eczema if we use Huggies wipes (my hands go bad just from handling the wipes).

I find Water wipes far too wet. You end up having to wring them out and still they leave baby's bottom wet which can make them sore.

You'll be advised to use cotton wool and water for the newborn phase anyway so I would only buy a pack or two of your chosen wipes and wait until you've given them a good trial before bulk buying.

I would look into reusable wipes. They are so much nicer and cheaper. Also I’d be cautious stocking up. Your baby may not get on with them or you may want to change. I personally didn’t like water wipes as the packaging doesn’t re seal well and they tended to dry out.

DoraleeRhodes · 17/05/2019 12:39

I’d also suggest looking at reusable cloth wipes. I’ve recently started using them with my second and find them so much better than disposables.

wheresmarybloodypoppins · 17/05/2019 22:33

Also suggest reusable wipes! Just started using them with my DS and wish we'd done it from the start. You use far less than disposable wipes and they're gentle on babies skin

Polestar50 · 17/05/2019 22:54

Third vote for reusable wipes. Once you've tried them you'll find it hard to go back.

All other wipes just seem really slippery and smear the poo around rather than gripping onto and getting it straight off the skin like reusable wipes do.

They are cheaper than disposable wipes in the long run and once you get used to the rhythm of washing and sorting them out they are no hassle at all.

I still use disposable wipes when out and about but always look forward to using my cheeky wipes when I'm home again.
