Dummy tips for newborn

Any tips for getting my new baby to take a dummy. I've been trying from day one (he's now 2 weeks) but he's not keen at all! He just gags and spits it out.

So far I've tried MAM, NUK genius and Cherry teats. The NUK seem to be best but he still spits them out.

Baby is EBF and has no issues with feeding. I just want to establish dummy use early on.

I tried a dummy with DD, but she wasn't interested, so I didn't push it. I, too, am curious why you are so keen. Not judging at all BTW.

I wanted mine to have a dummy so they didn’t suck their thumb, you can remove a dummy when they are older, you can’t remove a thumb! They also reduce SIDS risk.
Sadly neither of my ebf babies would have anything to do with them. I tried, my mum tried, MIL tried, just now even 2.5 year old DS has tried offering one to DD! Annoyingly he’s just started putting the one that was lying around for her in his mouth - I’m just going to give up and bin them! So no useful suggestions, sorry OP!

Have you tried putting some of your milk on the dummy so it tastes familiar

My daughter refused to take one except when they put sucrose on the end in special care. Could you try putting a bit or BM on the end? However, she just spat it out after that and established some serious thumb sucking at 10 weeks. We get all the benefits of comfort and SIDs reduction (because its the sucking not the dummy that gives the benefits) without having to steralise anything or keep retrieving it

You can try, but the baby probably won't take it.

My mother told me in the past they put sugar water on them for babies to take.... but most still spat them out... so for them to take again it would be more sugar... doesn't sound very good for baby.
