Any recommendations? She's developing dreadlocks at the back!

the john frieda dream curls leave in conditioner spray works great on my dd's hair x

Poundlandkate · 12/05/2019 18:33

I use the Asda kids leave in conditioner on Dd's bedraggled curls and it's amazing.

No tips but love the typo in your thread title! Grin

I use the Aussie leave in conditioner for my DD. Works a treat.

Give it a trim to get rid of the ends and keep giving it regular trims until the condition feels better. Lots of toddlers with curly hair never have it trimmed and it will never look nice if it has damaged ends.

Only use conditioner to wash not shampoo (curly girl method) and use a deep conditioner once a week. This makes a massive difference and will really help get shiny curls.

Comb the hair with a wide toothed comb when wet and full of conditioner only if possible and if it needs a tidy in the morning then spray with a little water and juje appropriately afterwards. Dry brushing will damage it and you will end up with a fizzy mess.

If you do all of the above you are unlikely to need a detangler :)

Thanks Pourquoi. That's very helpful. I have straight hair myself so I'm lost with these curls. No wonder it was turning into a frizzy nightmare.

Do you brush her hair with a specific brush? I have one i just wish I'd had it when small and mum tried to get those chugs out 😁

ssd · 12/05/2019 18:45

It's called The Wet brush, got it on amazon

Baloonphobia · 12/05/2019 18:52

I was trying a bit with a soft bristle brush but not really doing much as I was afraid of pulling the head off her.

I have two DC with this problem. Regular trim in the kitchen to get rid of worst tangles. Water bottle spray every morning. Then frizz ease dream curls. Rake through with tangle teaser. Then finger comb.

sleepismysuperpower1 · 12/05/2019 18:56

@baloonphobia were you using a tangle tamer? i found that they make the hair frizzy. try to brush only when wet as brushing when try turns it into a frizzy mess. all the best x

TipseyTorvey · 12/05/2019 18:57

Also as pp said, never shampoo just Co wash with conditioner 3 times a week.

Tiredbadger · 12/05/2019 18:58

Curly Ellie detangling spray is fantastic

Baloonphobia · 12/05/2019 18:59

I am amazed at how different curly hair has to be treated. Poor DD. I had no idea.

I came here to find out why you needed to dangle your toddler with a spray, curly or otherwise.
Use a wide-toothed comb not a brush.

Baloonphobia · 12/05/2019 19:35

Poor dangling DD.

Seriously try the wet brush, I've been amazed. It's only about a tenner with postage.

GMtoBe · 12/05/2019 19:42

Agree with PP about the asda spray leave in one. Works wonders on my DD's hair and costs less than £2.

OhDiddums · 12/05/2019 19:43

Cantu kids detangling spray is brilliant. I use their adults one and have very frizzycurly hair.
