Is 5AM normal wake up time for toddler?

My DC is 15mths old. We put him to bed about 7.30PM and he wakes up 5-5.30AM.

He appears to be sleepy from 7AM onwards and usually has a nap around 8.30-9.

I am wondering if this is to be expected at this age/going go bed 7.30PM or if there is a problem there I need to address? Ideally I would like him to sleep until about 6.30 but dont want to force him if it is more sleep than he needs having said that it doesnt feel 'normal' he gets sleepy about 2hrs after waking up. He doesnt get sleepy so quickly after his afternoon nap.

In terms of his sleeping routing he goes to bed 7.30PM and wakes up 5-5.30AM and during the weekend when he is at home he has 1-1.30hrs nap around 9AM and another nap at 2PM again about 1-1.30hrs. Mon-Fri when he is in the nursery he has only one nap at 1PM about 2-2.30hrs

My near 2 year old is exactly the same 5:15-5:30 like clockwork! Every day. Doesnt matter what time he goes to bed thats when he wakes up. He goes to bed at 7:30 most nights 8:30 the latest. The amount of people who say just keep him up later and he will wake up later! It doesnt work like that unfortunately.

I am hoping when he drops his nap he will start sleeping later.

Gro clock only works depending on the child. I've done exactly the same with my children. One will dutifully wait till the sun comes up and read or sing to himself. The other will completely ignore it and pelt into my room practically before her eyes are even open. Thankfully the wake ups before 6 are rare now anyway!

Presumably it does when the clocks go back though, unless you spend half the year getting up at 4.15am Confused

The keeping them up later doesn't work instantly or quickly Confused you have to shift around their whole sleep cycle and treat the pre- 6am wakening as night time.

Sounds like he might be having too much daytime sleep?

5am was the norm in my house until he was 18 months. no matter what naps he had , how early or late he went to bed etc, nothing made any difference. i decided to get a gro clock at 18 months! at the beginning we set it for 5.30 so when DC woke at 5 he had to wait for the sun to come up before he was allowed up. He grasped it really quickly, he'd sit up chatting etc until it was time. Eventually he'd start sleeping until that time and then we changed it to 6am and so on... he's now 23months and its set for 6.45. He usually wakes up between 6 and 6.20 but stays in his cot chatting with his cuddly toys until 6.45 and then shouts out when the sun has come up!

There is the odd occasion where he starts getting upset. those days i go into his room and wait with him, i dont let him come out of his room until the clock says. this morning was one of those, and we read a couple of books whilst waiting.

There has been the odd occasion where he has slept in later than the clock too, but they are few and far between. his sleep depends a lot on what develomental stages etc he is going through, or teething etc etc.
