I’m using mam bottles. They keep blocking it doesn’t matter if it’s breast milk or formula. They block during feeds too. Any suggestions ? Baby is couple of weeks x

Blocked with what? Breastmilk is very watery so it's difficult to block the teat.
Is this happening to all of the teats? Could it be that the baby is sucking hard and create a bit of a vacuum so it seems like the teat is blocked?
I'm not really sure what this could be

mayb e you need to use a faster flowing teat

You have to swirl the powdered milk so it dissolved and then give it a shake to make sure it’s full mixed.

This happened for me with breastmilk, I think due to some "clumps" of fatty milk. I asked a breastfeeding support person about it, and she thought it was "weird" - very helpful! Over time for me it improved on its own, but I just seemed to have a lot of clogged bits coming out for the first few weeks. Perhaps due to milk that had been sitting waiting for birth? Who knows! You could try straining the breastmilk with a fine seive?

I don’t know what it is, they just seem to block during every feed & I have to change the teats. I clean them under hot water then sterilise them so they are completely clean. I don’t shake the formula I let it mix then swirl it then shake it after. It’s so frustrating for myself & baby x

Can you see what is blocking it? When I had this issue I was able to see small white clumps in the milk (and I could squeeze them out with my fingers). My only other thought it how the mam bottles work - perhaps if you are heating or cooling a bottle without loosening or removing the lid, the suction created might be causing issues with the flow?
What number teat are you using? You could perhaps try the size 2 if you are on size 1?

Imicola thank you for your tips. I think I’m blocking them by putting boiling hot water in &formula toofast. But that doesn’t explain why they block with breast milk. My baby is only 2 weeks so I was worried about using size 2 teats x

My midwife told me to heat a needle until it glowed red, then use it to make the holes bigger in the teats, breastfed babies need bigger holes she said so to make three. The needle was pushed into a cork so that I did not burn my fingers.
