Hi all

I am sick with food poisoning today and feel really rough. I am throwing up, fever, body aches etc. Hubby is away for work abroad and I have no family near by.

My daughter is a super active 20 month old and I feel so bad because she needs activities etc but I can barely get off the loo! She is going stir crazy as she has been up since 6am and I am tied to the bathroom! Also I am really worried she can get sick from me. :( Is it possible to 'catch' selmonella poisoning?

Anyone had this happen before? How did handle it?

Thanks in advance!

You poor thing, it's going to be a very long day for both of you. But there is no way your DD can catch food poisoning from you! It's not a virus, it's whatever you are.

ate not are. Today is a day for as much screen time as you need.

Has it definitely been diagnosed as food poisoning? Proper food poisoning is actually not common whereas tummy bugs are. Either way, if you’re preparing food for her then there is a possibility that she could become ill.

If you both ate the same thing, yes. Just from you, less likely but be very careful with hygiene. Wash hands constantly and use hand gel. My dd and I both had a tummy bug when my dh was traveling. It was hell, but you’ll get through it.

I went to see a friend yesterday and she offered me an egg sandwich. DD did not touch it as she hates egg, and I started to feel a bit dodgy last night. I think it was that, though a doctor has not diagnosed so cannot be sure!

I feel terrible putting her in front of the TV, but I think it us the only solution for now. I used gloves to prepare her lunch and I am washing hands a lot/sanitizing. Hope she doesn't catch it if it is a tummy bug!

Thanks for your answer all. Appreciate your time!

Yes you can catch some types of food poisoning (particularly salmonella) and the bacteria can reside and be passed around (in effect that it what has happened with food poisoning)

Do not share utensils etc, gloves to prepare lunch is all good practice
