Very normal :)

Celebelly · 08/05/2019 04:45

That seems perfectly normal. What do you think is wrong?

Completely normal. In fact great. My 5 week old formula DD fed every 3 hours (Max, sometimes more often) and has 120ml Max each feed. At most.

I would just offer milk every 3/4 hours during the day and at night maybe a bedtime feed at 7pm, a dream feed at 10.30pm (ish) and then just if she wakes for food throughout the night. (I.e. no need to wake, just feed when they wake for it. Hopefully this way try will do their long stretch of no good over night, rather than in the day). But remember 5 weeks is really tiny so always offer food if they ask for it. Even if it’s ovjy half an hour later

Im not sure i thought they went every hour per ounce they had tbh, plus he is on hungry baby milk i just thought it might have been too much

Never heard that hour per once theory myself.
Honestly 5 hours between feeds for a 5 week old is a very long time. As a rough rule of thumb, by 6 weeks they should be able to do one session of 5 hour sleep per 24 hours (so hopefully at night). I would just offer a bottle every 3 hours and if he /she drinks it all then up the oz and if not, then they are full and you can offer a fresh bottle when they want it.
DD fed roughly every 3 hours when small until weaning. But I was flexible and at 5 weeks it’s was still very much on demand. So sometimes hourly during a growth spurt.
Just carry on offering milk when it’s asked for. And don’t try and make your baby drink more in the hope of filling up for longer.
Why are you using hungry baby milk? Did you health visitor suggest it? I am wondering whether your baby just needs feeding more often. Their tummy’s are very very tiny. They need filling up little and often. Not clogging up with masses of thickening agent.

I switched yo hungry baby milk as i thought he needed it cause he seemed to want food more often but seeing your comment i might change back as he dont need it really i just thought he was a hungry baby tbh like his brothers lol he is so fussy with his food more so than the other two thats why i was after some advice as he is so different and unsure if there was anything wrong with him, thank you for your advice though its very helpful to get other mums advice and experiences 😊😊

Iam wondering why you changed to hungry baby formula. It can be difficult to digest. Rather than ask on here you would be better talking to your health visitor. All babies are different

It’s always worrying when you have a new tiny baby and are unsure what they need or want to start with.
I would just go back to the normal milk, offer at least every 3 hours or more if he wants it. AlwUs worth a phone call to health visitor too.

Congratulations on your new baby.
