I got the one from ikea for £10 and am enjoying it so far! Think it's a Mumsnet best buy too

mrsed1987 · 07/05/2019 16:59

yes Ive been looking at that but would it not be a bit uncomfortable just hard plastic or AIBU

We had this one and really liked it,

I preferred the harness and ability to use it as a low chair to our old IKEA Antilop although that was good too.

Forgot the picture!

My DD used it for almost 2.5 years in some form and never complained about being uncomfortable, it makes it a breeze to clean!

Ikea Antilop for sure. There is absolutely no need to spend a fortune on some fancy chair with all bells and whistles that is full of nooks and crannies that bits fall into and you then can’t get them out.

Dandelion1993 · 07/05/2019 17:03

Joie mimzy smacker. We had it for our eldest and loved it. Will buy another one for DD2.

NC2605 · 07/05/2019 17:05

I like the cosatto supanoodle 2 that I have. My baby is a climber and in other ones, like the ikea one, she can negotiate the straps and stand up in the space between the tray and seat. In our one she cannot. So maybe also depends on the baby you have too!

babysharkah · 07/05/2019 17:05

Tripp trapp if you want to spend £££. Mine still use theirs six years on, I use them to when I am working from home.

Hiphopopotamous · 07/05/2019 17:10

Even if you don't get the ikea one for regular use, it's useful. We have one in the garage to use when guests come or if we go away. The legs pop off so it's very easy to store and transport.

thebabysmellsofpooagain · 07/05/2019 17:13

And you can get an inflatable insert for the Ikea one for about a fiver which keeps them comfy x

I love mine, when it gets super grubby you can pull it apart and chuck it in the shower! No little books and crannies! 👍

thebabysmellsofpooagain · 07/05/2019 17:14

That should be nooks, not books 🤦‍♀️

magpie24 · 08/05/2019 09:56

Yep as PP says you can get an insert for the IKEA highchair to make it comfier

theruffles · 08/05/2019 10:41

The IKEA highchair is brilliant and you can get an inflatable insert for it which helps until they're big enough to sit without it. I've taken the insert out with me to use at restaurants too because the wooden high chairs they have are normally too big for my LO.

We have a Cuggl highchair at my mum's which is good but slippery so LO slides down atm (wipe-clean service)

octonoughtcake3 · 08/05/2019 10:44

Ikea one and their long sleeved bibs. Their plates and cutlery are good too.

DelphiMum · 08/05/2019 14:15

Everyone buys the Ikea chair eventually. Ease of cleaning is the primary requirement from a high chair and anything with padding starts to smell funky after a few weeks. Ikea padding is removable and can put in the washing machine.

Shmithecat2 · 08/05/2019 14:21

I didn't like the IKEA one because of the lack of leg support. I had a Mamas and Papas one which was great, the seat reclined, and was fairly easy to clean and store.

peachgreen · 08/05/2019 14:25

The best ones are the Rubbermaid ones you get in restaurants. But the IKEA or Asda ones are brilliant for at home. Padding is a total no no.

teaandbiscuitsforme · 08/05/2019 18:35

Ikea definitely - you can just put the seat and tray in the dishwasher! I'd never get one with padding.

SinkGirl · 08/05/2019 18:40

You can’t really beat the Ikea ones. We had them for our twins from 6 months with the inflatable inserts. They come apart, they stack, you can even put them in the dishwasher. They’re 2.5 now and use a little Ikea table and chairs but we still use the high chairs for hair cuts!

SinkGirl · 08/05/2019 18:41

I considered getting Tripp Trapp ones but we wouldn’t be able to use them now - they both have ASD and no danger awareness, without the harness fitting they’d just fall off!

mrsed1987 · 10/05/2019 08:02

Thanks all. Looks like the ikea one is the winner!

Ikea antilop, without a doubt. I spent £70 on an all-singing all-dancing reclining multiple-adjusting highchair and only used it for 3 months before buying the antilop, as I just couldn't keep the other one clean - it was a nightmare!

Wenttoseainasieve · 11/05/2019 09:13

Ikea Antilop. With my first baby the fancy high chair I bought ended up in the garage in favour of the good old Antilop!
