Hi all :) , I'm the father of a 7 year old autistic boy attending school (we suspect he has moderate inncontence as he just doesn't seem to know when he's going and is at a special needs school that knows how to mage it due to his condition anyway) , up until recently we've been using junior nappies to help our son with his wetting accidents, however he's had a huge growth spurt and just dosent seem to fit them anymore, any advice on which brands are the best/most applicable for this situation would be greatly appreciated, (the nappies being discreet are a huge issue for him as he's very sensitive about the entire topic and has been bullied about it before)

See if you can deal to the school nurse. They can measure him and will arrange for nappies to be provided that will fit him.

There are specialist nappies for children who need them & they will be able to help get you into contact with where to get them.

You might be able to get free ones from the continence nurse? We got free nappies from when my son turned 4. If not I am sure they would be able to advise on brands

Abena have a larger size pull up which might be a good solution? www.eric.org.uk/shop/abena-abri-form-junior-nappies-xs2-32-pack If you suspect there is an underlying continence issue that might be causing the wetting (constipation, overactive Bladder etc) then can you access a bowel/bladder assessment service either via GP/school nurse/local continence service? If there’s an underlying medical condition that can be fixed/treated, then it might be possible to move on from nappies/pull ups? Also Google Dr Eve Fleming who is a specialist clinician (now retired) who worked with children with autism and toileting difficulties. She has written a book and there are some videos of her on YouTube - they might be helpful?
