Hi, I’m 37 weeks pregnant and just doing some last minute prepping..
I saw a suggestion somewhere to prep a little basket with breastfeeding essentials to keep close by when feeding.. including things like..

  • lansinoh cream
  • nipple pads
  • muslins
  • snacks?
What else would be handy in there? TIA x

Second the list of helpful people/places:resources. NHS support can be hit and miss or confusing which is distressing if things aren't working out. Kellymom website is a lifesaver.

I'd also say look up lactation smoothies in case you have trouble with supply - from memory things like oats and yoghurt help, or I had lots of tea made from hot water on fenugreek seeds with honey. If nothing else they're tasty and make you feel like you're doing something.

If you're looking for books, I liked food of love by Kate Evans. It's a comic book style book that tells about all kinds of things.

So many great tips, and some are such simple things I had never thought of. Feeling very prepared now - Thankyou x

Thought of something else. If you're sitting on a sofa to feed you may need a footstall to get you in the right position. My MW shoved a pouffe under my feet when she came round and it made such a difference! She said she always does it, often with the mum's hospital bag if it's still lying around. Also, remember to relax your shoulders. With dd1 I was far too tense and my shoulders were bunched right up, I was getting really sore back and neck muscles. A feeding pilow can be really helpful in the early weeks while they are still tiny.
