Mil gives her baby's quavers or wotsits. She suggests my dd can have them and she is 10 months old, haven't really known baby's to have them? But I am still learning so would it be ok?

There is so much salt in normal crisps. Also they can have sharp edges which won't do any harm but might lead to upset if they jab the roof of their mouth.

DD is two years old and has had crisps on 2 occasions but only 3 crisps each time. She loved them (also loves olives so i assume it's the salt she loves).

I'd say no on this one because if you say ok, but only a few MIL may well give her half a bag so it's easier just to say no.

18 months is over 1 so you can relax the salt concern a bit then compared with a 10 month old. Babies and toddlers between 1 and 3 years can have 2 grams of salt total per day.

Assuming your MIL has quite a big gap between her eldest and youngest, you might want to be a bit pre emptive with any guidelines you're concerned with which are likely to have changed between them, because IME (DH was the 18 month old in this situation!) people don't bother updating their safety/general parenting guidance when they have a new baby, and/or tend to think "Well it was fine with my older one(s)" if they do hear about new guidance. 15-20+ years ago there just wasn't the same feeling as today with all the internet stuff as well.
