New mum issues, I’m constantly worrying about him & knocking my confidence

Hey guys baby is few weeks old. I’m constantly worrying about him he’s my first which is probably why. I’m constantly checking he’s not suffocating whilst lying on me or in his bouncer or car seat. Can anyone give me some reassurance? Would baby make me aware if he was having trouble breathing ?
Thank you 😊

I think it's normal to have some level of worry but you sound quite anxious about this. Have you spoken to your HV/GP?

The risk is very low, make sure you are following advice about safe times to be in equipment, make sure there's nothing that can cover his face or get wrapped round him, and try not to worry.

Completely normal! My first born is now three and I still check for breathing when he's gone very quiet and still. I think you are being a very good mother - checking your baby in these very early weeks is all part of parenting. As time goes on you will realise babies are actually quite tough little things. Your confidence will grow with time. Congratulations!

Very normal

I have a 4 year old and I still check on her before I go to bed to make sure she's breathing

I also have a 6 week old and let me tell you, the fear is still there! It doesn't go away 🙈

I'd say it's perfectly normal x

Meant to add that it does get much easier with time x

Thank you for all your replies. I think it’s because he’s my first & as everyone knows now he’s here I couldn’t imagine life without him. I just worry so much about everything I think I will speak to my midwife or GP. I guess it isn’t normal to be scared to death of your own newborn Shock thank you again x
