My 9 month old has had a very snotty congested nose for a full month?!

She's finding it hard to enjoy food and sleep is troublesome as she keeps waking herself up not being able to breathe properly...

Any tips / reassurance that this is normal?!

I think this can be related to teething (although a month seems excessive!) My boy is really congested and is definitely teething x

Do you have an 'aspirator' (ie snot sucker?) - ours was invaluable for our permanent snotty nosed Ds. A few saline drops can loosen it and help it to 'run out' (sorry)

I also advise: start early in the day, don't wait til bedtime to begin the removal process.

Now he's a bit older we give him antihistamines which do seem to dry it up, but not sure you can give that at 9mo? Or even if you should if it's just a cold (albeit a long one)

Just ordered the snot sucker!

No other signs of teeth coming through and she didn't react like this for her bottom two...

I may give it a few more weeks and check in with GP or HV...

Catnip I am something if a snot expert- my ds was born with a cold (true!) and has had virtually permanent snot since then, for 3.5 years. No allergies, no illness, just 'productive'
Doctors were useless but to be honest it's worth keeping a little note of it if it drags on because it can be a sign of something else.
