Press sent by accident.

Hello All,

On Thursday, my 7 month became quite poorly. I thought it was a cold but by Saturday, he was projectile vomiting some of his feeds and became quite wheezy. So we rang NHS 111, who gave us an emergency appointment at the local Urgent Care Centre.

Doctor said he is really wheezy but not dehydrated so seems like he has a chest infection. He prescribed him a 6 day course of Amoxicillin and gave a Ventolin inhaler.

I feel so bad for him. He’s sleeping a lot as he’s not sleeping at night as he seems like he’s in pain and whiny and doesn’t really want to play with his toys.

I am just now constantly worried. What if he keeps getting chest infections? What if he gets something more serious? What is he becomes asthmatic?

He’s starting nursery in September and I’m worried he’s going to get al sorts.

Isn’t he abit young to be on antibiotics and a inhaler?

I feel like a crap mum and that I’ve failed him Sad.

We hardly go out so I don’t know where or how he’s picked this up.

Oh bless him! I'm sure he'll be fine in a few days. He's probably feeling miserable and sorry for himself - if my son is clearly unwell we just have lots of cuddles and watch cbeebies!

They wouldn't have given him the ABs and inhaler if they didn't think it was necessary - chest infections can turn nasty. Are you giving him calpol as well to help with the pain?

How are you? You sound quite anxious and like you're catastrophising. It's perfectly normal and healthy for kids to pick up all sorts of bugs, it doesn't make it easy for us as parents though Flowers
