10 week old has a flat head

My dd is nearly 11 weeks old and her head at he back is quite flat. I’ve mebtioned it to the health visitor and she said to try and put her in different positions but over all she wasn’t to concerned. My only problem is she will do tummy time a few times a day when she’s playing on her mat but she hates it and I’m conscious she cant spend loads of time on her front. She’ll sit in her bouncer for a bit as well but with her still being little she has to spend the majority of time on her back. Has anyone else had this and did it resolve itself as they got bigger and started to sit up more?

Get a sling, let her lie on your chest on her tummy, etc. Doesn't have to be lying flat on her back all the time.

Wear her in a sling. Also, does she favour one side over the other? My youngest had torticollis (a tight neck), so favoured one side, which would have led to a flat head if not treated potentially. I took him to 3 sessions with a cranial osteopath who sorted it out. Once he could move his head more freely, he didn't favour one side more than the other, which meant no one bit got flat. If they are upright and not putting pressure on one bit of the head, it will help.

It will go back!! Don’t forget that lying on your chest on her front counts towards tummy time

Please don't worry! DD1 (now 6) had THE flattest head ever - I was sure she'd end up with brain damage! It was like a board at the back 😂 Absolutely fine and soon rounded out as normal over time. It is scary though, totally sympathise.

We had to go to physio for it as it didn't even out when other babies usually do. He hated tummy time too but we had to do extra as part of the physio. Chances of it going like this are tiny though!

Thank you everyone!! I’ll definitely try and get her doing more tummy time even if it’s on my chest. Problem is she’s so nosey lol she loves being sat up facing outwards. She’s trying to pull herself forward when she’s in the bouncer to sit more upright! Happy to hear it will round up
