My 12yr old is refusing to go to school -what do I do?

DD has ASD and ADHD (ADHD is medicated). This morning she wouldn't get out of bed, got ready under protest, then announced she wasn't going to school, and is now having a meltdown.
We have had trouble recently getting her to go, but this is the first time she's point blank refused.
I get the feeling something is going on, but she just won't talk to her father, nor I.
Has anyone else experienced something like this and if so, how did you deal with it?
FYI, she has started her periods, and is due anytime now. I did think that might be it, but she's been getting steadily worse these last few weeks.

Have you talked to the school? What do they suggest? Is this the first time she has point blank refused?

Call the school for help. Do they have any pastoral support workers there? I’m a head of year and pastoral staff will be very used to this. Normally they’d make home visits. Does she have a key worker? Senco? Anyone who she has a good relationship with that she might be prepared to talk to? Sending you Flowers it’s such a stressful thing to deal with I know

I'm actually on my way to work - DH has the pleasure of dealing.
He's phoned the school to explain, and is waiting for someone to call him back with an appointment.
It's the first time she's refused, but we have been called into school before about her behaviour. They didn't even know she had ADHD until we told them, which didn't fill me with confidence 😳

No, no keyworker, SPOC, or anything like this, but I guess it's early days for her.
