At home Baby-wearing

Hi,
Just wondering - what is the best ‘type’ of baby carrier for using around the home?
Keen for something which will allow me to cook/eat/tidy etc when I’m home alone with baby. DH works away for weeks at a time.
Ideally something suitable for a newborn and I guess fairly light as baby is due next month and we’ll be into the summer months Smile
Thanks!

Also should add, I’m in Scotland and received this wrap in the Baby Box from the government.

Which I plan to use. Just wondered if there was anything else worth trying Smile

A wrap or a close Caboo (like a wrap without the wrapping!) Would be my go to. If there is a sling library near you they can give you advice on the best ones for summer/age of baby and you can hire one or two to try before making a commitment.

I used a Close Caboo for at home with DS, it was lovely and soft for just pottering round the house.

Thank you. I’ll have a look at that one. Discovered there is a sling library once a month not too far from us, so will try and get to that too Smile

The baby box wrap is perfect for the early months. I had a close Caboo that was a gift, but he always settled much better in the wrap. Takes a couple of goes to get the hang of tying it but you'll work it out, from memory there are instructions with it (tip - it needs to be tighter than you'd initially think).

Now that DS is giant bigger I have a Babybjorn one air - I don't love it but it's very easy to get him in and out, plus it goes forwards, backwards and can even be worn as a backpack (not tried that yet). It can technically be used from birth but I didn't so can't comment.

Definitely visit the sling library.

Another vote for close caboo. Easy to use once you get the hang of it and baby seemed content. I found by about 4 months it started to get a bit uncomfortable but up until then it was my daughters favourite place to sleep!

Great! Thanks xx

I love my Amawrap, so comfy and not as stretchy as others (100%cotton) so DS doesn't 'slip' down. great for doing housework as its so lightweaight. Really easy to put on too Smile

Another vote for a Close Caboo for the early months.
When my baby hit about 4 months she was too big and wiggly for it so we moved on to a Connecta.

loveisanopensore · 30/04/2019 20:19

Close Caboo. Was able to.feed in it too.
Really warm though.so I switched to a lillebaby in summer.

My ergobaby omni 360 has been worth every penny

Another vote for the Caboo in the early months. Both mine were early and tiny and it was the only one they could really go in. Once they were bigger we’ve got on really well with a Rose and Rebellion one.

I like a more structured sling and I have a Tula free to grow which is suitable from birth. Now he's 7 months he sometimes goes on my back too.
