Nearly 4 year old in nappies because of accidents.

Hi all, as a parent I know that each and every child is different with meeting their milestones. Neither of mine were early to be toilet trained. DS was 3.5 before he was dry at all but he does have autism and was non verbal at the time so he did quite well considering that. DD was just after 3 and used the potty for months refusing to use the big toilet.

Anyway, I have a friend. She has a daughter who is 4 very soon and still in nappies. The girl seems a very intelligent little lady and there is no form of physical or intellectual disability but is still in nappies. When questioned (not by me) her mother said she puts her in nappies as she has frequent accidents. I know this is hard and washing wet clothes gets tiring but surely keeping a nearly 4 year old in nappies because of his isn’t he answer because they will never learn? If she’s wetting herself she isn’t feeling the sensation of being wet because she’s wearing a nappy?

The little girls mother spends a lot of time out and about and doesn’t want the accidents in the car etc but surely she will never learn this way? She’s going to school in September.

To think this is completely the wrong way to go about accidents?

DD had frequent accidents to start with but I aside a week or two where we spent most of the time indoors and putting her into pants so she could feel she’s wet really helped.
