How do you do daytime naps?

My 3 month old is getting overtired a lot. During the day she will sleep in her buggy but not much at home. She used to nap in her bouncy chair but won't now. I haven't been putting her in her cot or a dark room to nap as I've tried to differentiate between nighttime sleep and daytime. Should I actually be making it quiet and dark for naps during the day too?

It depends on the baby but mine would just sleep in the sling and I would do stuff in the kitchen

I’ve always had to make it quiet and dark for DD for naps - she would never sleep otherwise! Never affected night sleep and she is still a fantastic sleeper at 2.

I remember it being hard work at this age, naps were tough etc, but it does get better! Dark room, dummy and white noise really helped us.

Once he'd got the hang of day and night we moved to cot naps in a dark room, coincided with him out growing his Moses basket and the nicer weather starting. Still had pram naps, sling naps and car naps though.

Cot naps in dark (black out blinds at this time of year) room.

In the car on the way somewhere or sitting outside after coming home (obviously not in warm weather! We live very rurally on a private drive), or in the pushchair. I’ve never had either of mine nap at home as I can’t stand being stuck at home around nap routines. My youngest mostly sleeps on the way to/from the school run.

My LO is just about 3 months now too. Until a couple weeks ago he would nap exclusively in the sling - and he seemed to need a lot, maybe 6 naps a day, some long - due to horrific reflux.

Now the reflux is under control again (meds change) we've got him napping mainly in the living room with us in the same room, him on the sofa (padding on the floor just in case). Around 6 naps a day still ranging 20 minutes to 1.5 hours, no schedule, just when he needs to. TV on at a reasonable level to mask any noises I might make, blinds open so he knows its day time. I have just set up the travel cot in the living room which will double as a play pen when he's mobile. The pram is too exciting a place to nap apparently.

He does exclusively feed to sleep so this helps him not get overtired. We have a 'reluctant feeder' though who will only feed when exhausted or already asleep. Not concerned about bad habits at this point because he starved himself for 6 weeks so just grateful he's eating.

Pram works a treat for us - 5 month old with a serious case of FOMO so no chance of using sofa, bouncy chair etc. Pop in pram with Snoozeshade over and white noise on, wheel back and forth for a couple of mins and she’s gone for half an hour (when I wheel her into the shade and sunbathe in the garden while it’s hot!)

About 4 x 30 min naps a day as she can’t seem to go longer just yet. Pram system doesn’t affect night time; she (touch wood) self settles after bath and bottle so long as room is dark and white noise is on.

My 4 month old used to nap all the time in his moses basket which was in living room with lights and TV on as normal. About 2 weeks ago he wouldn't settle that way any more. He now mostly sleeps in his pram in the entrance way by the front door. It's quieter there, cooler and with the shade up its a little darker. We don't really have a routine yet, when he starts to get tired I pop him in there and if tired he goes out like a light. If he's fighting it we push him in house, drive or a lap of the local park!

My dd is 9 months now but she used to nap in the moses basketnin the living room with lights on, TV on etc. It was inky about 5 months she started to get disturbed alot by the noise so I moved her into her cot and started putting her up for naps and using the monitor and shutting the curtains
