Has anybody ever partitioned a room off?

I am currently pregnant with my 3rd child. I also have step-daughter living with us full time.
Our original plan was to have our smallest bedroom as a nursery. DS has his own room, DD and DSD share. They have now decided they'd like their own rooms. However their bedroom is huge and plenty big enough for two. I've got the idea of partitioning it off and decorating each side
As they want it.
Anybody have any ideas on how to do this?

It is perfectly possible and we did the opposite to a house we once owned.

The addition of a partition is relatively easy - the bit that is more of a pain is the addition of another door (consider where this goes) and the addition of overhead lights and light switches - you don't want DD getting upset because DSD has turned the light off!

My dad did this when I was young to make a small room for my sister out of my parents larger room.
Luckily he is a carpenter and did the work himself, so I'd suggest finding some local small companies/tradesmen to give some quotes if this level of DIY isn't something you've done before.

Basically it should be a wooden frame screwed/nailed into the floor and ceiling, then plastered boarded and plastered/decorated.
Should be fairly quick to do if you find the right person.

My sister and I put our wardrobes in the middle of the room as a wall. Would they accept this kind of temporary partition?

We did this. My husband is a carpenter and bit a stud walk and covered it will plasterboard. Then he filled the gaps, added skirting boards, and painted. Worked a treat.

Or choose furniture that acts as a partition

Thanks. Some ideas to look at. They are in the loft but it is a huge room so definitely possible to turn it into two rooms.
