Pug 107/ C1 / Aygo infant car seats

Can anyone recommend a car seat that will work well with these tiny little cars?! I have one of them and paternal grandparents have another.
I could hopefully change my car before needing a larger seat (assuming they won't fit in very well!) But have no chance of doing so before baby comes.

Most infant carriers should fit but you may need to have the passenger seat further forward than you might have without car seats in the car. One alternative would be to put the car seat onto the front seat with the airbag switched off (preferably disabled) if it's difficult to get into the back seat (e.g. in a 3 door car).

As for next car seats, I'd recommend joining the Facebook group 'car seat advice uk' and searching for the car types. There are lots of people who have fitted rear facing seats such as the Joie Stages or the Britax Two Way Elite In C1s.

Obviously forward facing isn't anywhere near as safe as rear facing but if you do FF at any point in the future, please bare in mind that there must be a minimum of 55cm of space for the child so often compact rear facing seats are a better fit in small cars.

I realise this is a long way off for you at the moment but so many people miss out on this crucial piece of information!! Smile

Thank you, good to know it should be easy enough to find one. I didn't know where to start!

I do have a 3 door, I have been thinking that isofix in the back with an infant seat might be easiest - probably behind me as I'm so short my seat is almost as far forward as it goes anyway.

As for next seats- I'd like to rear face as long as possible and hope to have a more practical sized car by then but thank you :)
I'll check out that Facebook group!

I'd look through the Facebook group (it's run by car seat experts and IMO the best online source of car seat advice out there!) then go and try some in your car. Go to a car seat specialist retailer if you can rather than Halfords, mothercare etc.

One problem you might have with a 3 door is fitting a seat between the car frame and the folded seat. We have a seven seater so not the same but I've tried putting an infant carrier into our 3rd row of seats and it wouldn't fit between the middle row folded down and the door frame. If one fits, you're right that it would definitely be easier with the isofix base than trying to belt it into the back!

If it's generally going to be just you and baby in the car, I'd seriously consider belting the seat into the front seat (remembering the airbag!). It's perfectly safe and extremely common in Sweden which has the best car safety records in the world.

Good luck!

We have an Aygo and had no trouble getting car seats to fit. All the seats we had were Maxi Cosi ones. Am not sure about extended rear facing DD was born in 2010 when they were less common.
Only issue I had was climbing into the back to put infant seat in. This was a particular issue when someone helpfully parked too close.

I have an Aygo (5 door) and we have a Joie 360 spin car seat which fits brilliantly. Not sure how good it would be for a 3 door car, but the spin feature is lovely as it saves my back when taking the wee one out the car.

Thank you.
There is nowhere near me (except a Halfords which I've heard awful reviews for) that does fittings and things so I'm just trying to get the best idea I can before having to travel somewhere else!
