I have posted before about my DD sleep and tummy issues and had some great support and advice.

I'm now at a bit of a loss at what to do next and wonder if anyone has any ideas or experience?

DD is nearly 11 months and is on both gaviscon and ranitidine for silent reflux. We are also lactose free as this has been upsetting her tummy too, although the
Lactose free is a trial with advice from the GP.

So the ranitidine seems to be helping her through the night and she is more comfortable and sleeping better (cheer!). However, every evening between 7-9 she is clearly in pain. She will not be put down and cries within minutes if she is put down, she arches her back and grabs at me and herself so I am fairly sure it's pain. After 9/10ish and some milk she settled down again and will go down and sleep (most of the time anyway)

I am back at the dr on 3 weeks for review but cannot bear to see her in such agony. Her bowel movements are pretty soft and consistent with occasional constipation but all ok at the moment.

Anybody got any advice or had anything similar?

TIA

Limited knowledge here but some others at my baby group have a similar issue and are lacto free (and soya).

They use a baby wedge and keep baby more upright, it seems to help with the reflux aspect.

Mine needs to stay upright for 20-30 minutes after feeding then needs to really be winded, including massaging or else she’s in pain at night. Maybe give this a try?

Sorry I’m not much help - but hopefully this bumps your post

It’s very rare for babies to be lactose intolerant. It is much more likely to be CMPA. I would suggest going fully dairy free.

Has the Rantitadine been increased inline with her weight increase?

Thank you both for replies.

I've asked specifically about cows milk allergy but the Dr does not think this is the case. And yes ranitidine is the correct dose.

I have just tired wedging her up a bit and that helped. I'll keep trying that, thank you again.

Just so you’re aware the CMPA/soya intolerant baby was below the curve hugely and just didn’t gain weight, only once they identified the intolerance (at 6months after lots of hospital stays etc) did they begin to come back into the curve. Not my baby so can’t say exactly how it was finally identified but as @jackshouse said lactose intolerant is rare in babies.

There are some specific help groups on Facebook you can look into if you’re on it

(I keep forgetting the terms for the specific allergies sorry!)

My CMPA child did stay at a good weight and followed her curve but she was lactose free for a while. It was not until we went dairy free that her weight increased to match her height percentile. Ask for a referral to a dietician.
