Stopping night feeds! 14 months

My son is 14 months and he is still waking at night for 1 maybe 2 8oz bottles... Has anyone else had this problem? How did you stop it? He eats food during the day but I do struggle to get him to eat a lot and when I mean a lot thats probably me comparing him to his baby friends who happily sit there and eat a whole plate of food every time something is placed in front of them. He also has a bottle in the morning when he wakes, one before his morning nap and one before bed.

It's a long time ago for me but it sounds like a lot of milk to me. Can you reduce the quantity and number of bottles?

@Wallywobbles ive tried giving water at night instead of milk but he just doesn't settle at all and just cries if I put him back to bed 😢

I felt sure my son would stop waking for night feeds when he was ready to do so. He eventually slept through the night at 16 months and that was him, he never woke up again for a night feed. After that he became a very good sleeper and has continued to be.

Also in the day. Can you move away from bottles to a sippy cup. If he eats more solids and less milk I think he'll be able to go longer.

I would just give milk in a sippy cup for breakfast at breakfast and bed time first. Hopefully then he will eat more food and not need milk during the night.

Reduce the milk during the day and give it in cups. For a 14 month old he's getting a lot of milk which is why he isn't eating.

At night give him water. He'll stop waking for it. It should only take a couple of nights and it'll be worth him complaining for those nights (which he will do). If you can't face the idea of just water to start with give him half what you're giving him (so 4oz instead of 8, and make it half and half water and milk).
