Hey my baby is four months old and she is at that stage where she needs constant attention.
It's to the point where even me trying to go to the toilet is difficult. I just find if she is left ( in her chair ) while I even try to shower ect she cries.
I just want to know what other people's experiences have been?
I am always doing bits with her but I am running out of steam now and sometimes just want to be able to sit down and watch TV or rest without feeling guilty that I am not stimulating her enough. Even when I do try and sit it just doesn't happen because she gets board after ten minutes.
I have been out every day with her since she was born and now feel that I have to go out with her so she doesn't get agitated and also to speed up the day until my husband comes home and helps me.
Maybe this is totally normal but any advice would be great.
Thanks

Have you got a really good routine in place?

I got a book called ‘top tips from the baby whisperer’ it helped me get a really good routine of - EASY, Eat, activity, sleep, Your time.

It really did work. And I’d recommend it. I stayed in for a week or so to get the routine sorted but I meant I could sit down for an hour or so and catch up with TV, chores ect..

I used to get up with my two DC newborn and 1yr old, get them sorted, fed, changed then straight into their double pram/buggy and out if the house. Being indoors felt like I was in a pressure cooker and it was all so overwhelming. It was my one-year old who needed constant stimulation and would not settle and play while I fed baby or whilst I tried to do anything at all. I tried lots of things to no avail. I loved being in the house but only when I knew my OH was due home from work and could help me out with them.
No advice. You just took me back in time 8years! Rest assured you are not alone and it does get better. I know exactly that feeling of needing to get out.

I found 4 months hard, my LO was just frustrated he couldn't do anything, it was much easier when he could sit up.

Have you got a bouncy chair or a jumperoo style thing (we had a static one) that they might be happy with? At that age we did a lot of playing with sensory scarves, sensory baskets, foil blanket. We did a couple of classes per week and went for a lot of coffees!

Sometimes babies have to cry for a few mins. Nothing you can do. Put the radio on.

Hi OP. I made an almost identical thread when my baby was 3 months. I was told by a kind poster that she didn't need to be entertained. Just do what you want to do and baby will find it interesting. Do your housework but take her with you. I took her in her chair into the bathroom with me and put some music on and gave her a few toys. At first it felt like I was ignoring her a bit but I realised that she was happy to watch me fold washing while I talked about random things, told her stories about her family. Give baby one of thr tops or something to mess around with. Now she's almost 3 years old and loves helping me hang up and fold washing (she's yet to be much practical help though!)
Try to relax, and if you need to get something done and baby is crying, they are OK to cry for a few minutes :) congrats on your new baby x
